Shimla Biryani (with no Shimla)

How to go and eat in Shimla Biryani, Chinar Park on a occasion (15th Aug) ?

Step 1- Go to the counter and ask the (Super smart) person for available seats. He will then respond that it will take approx 15 mins for a seat to get empty? He will make you wait till 40 mins then by keep on saying that it's almost ready.

Step 2- He will then offer you a seat on a same table. Like sitting just opposite to someone on a same table (6 seater). We denied, for obvious reasons

Then again waited for 5-7 mins and finally he took us inside and unfortunately made us share the table with 2 other men even after we denied initially. We dint think about it much and sat. The table wasn't clean. We waited but nobody came. A person came just cleaned few food leftovers and went, keeping the table dirty.

Step 3- Waited for someone to take orders. It took them 10-12 mins to send someone to take the order. We ordered - 1 portion Chicken biryani 1 portion Chichen Chaap 1 Butter garlic naan And 2 glasses of small coke and ofcourse a bottle of mineral water.

Confirmed with the Order take as in how long will it take to prepare the order! Got the same response. "Approx 15 mins"

Step 4- Waited for 30 mins. No response. After asking twice, they got the plates. Post 5 mins, they got the coke. Post 5-6 mins, they got the cutlery.

We were sitting and were enjoying the scenic beauty of the restaurant and also was observing the Co2 moving out of our coke.

Post 10 mins, got Naan and Chaap. We were so hungry that we finished it off in like 10 mins hardly.

Step 5- We asked to get Biryani. Again they took 15 mins to get it. We got so frustrated that we felt like paying the bill and leaving that places asap.

Somehow they managed to get it. We had the food.

Step 6- Took another 10 mins to get the bill. And made us wait on the table. We went to counter, paid the bill and left.

Feedback time-

Food: 6.5/10 (Basic Biryani. No such taste. Chaap was just out of flavours)

Service: 3/10 (Super pathetic. They will make you wait like anything. No arrangements of staff. Staffing should be increased on the occasion days. Table wasn't cleaned)

Hygiene and ambience: 7.5 (Washroom was not clean at all. Ambience was good. Copied from Dada Boudi)

I never had biriyani at Shimla. So decided to give a visit for dinner. The ambience and sitting arrangement are quite good. Food items ordered by us - (1) Chicken Reshmi Kebab (2) Mutton Galauti Kebab (3) Lachchha Parantha (4) Mutton Biriyani

Food Review - (1) Chicken Reshmi Kebab - Six Juicy, Succulent, tender chicken pieces. tasted heavenly with mint chutney and lots of onion salads (9/10)

(2) Mutton Galauti Kebab - 6 pieces of Kebabs which are dry, hard. Utterly disappointed.Tried Galauti Kebabs in Oudh, India restaurant. They are way better (2/10). FYI one lachchha parantha was included with the kebabs.

(3) Lachchha Parantha - It was just 🤌🤌🤌. So tasty, crunchy yet soft, melts in your mouth (10/10) we had ordered one Lachchha Parantha separately cause we didn't know that the Galauti Kebab will include one Parantha

(4) Mutton Biriyani - the rice tasted very nice, just what I like, flavourful but not heavy on masalas but the mutton piece was disappointing. It's little under cooked. The aloo was super disappointing also. It's severely undercooked (5/10)

Service review- (1) No options are given between Normal water or Mineral. It's always mineral

(2) My first disappointment - We ordered Mutton Galauti Kebab which comes with One Lachchha Parantha. We didn't know that because we were never served Mutton Galauti Kebabs with Lachchha Parantha included by other restaurants. But when we ordered another Lachchha Parantha the Service guy didn't even bothered to tell us that the plate already includes one

(3) When the Biriyani is served the server asked us to check the mutton pieces which is very commendable practice. I didn't like my piece and asked to change that. However, the new piece was also disappointing like the last one.

overall, I'm somewhat disappointed with Shimla Biriyani as I solely visited there for the purpose of trying biriyani....

This is newly opened Indian restaurant at Chinar park special known for it's Biryani. I ordered Virgin Mojito, Tandoori Fish Tikka, Chicken Lasuni Kabab & Special Mutton Biryani.

Mojito was okies not at the best, If i tell u about starters, one of the best i found was the Tandoori fish tikka, pcs were large and well cooked with flavour well mixed with it..must go with it, The other chicken Lasuni kabab was more of a lolipop typs which wasn't properly cooled and while eating i found internally was still tasting as i am eating a raw meat, it was hard and messy. I'll suggest not to go with it. Finally, coming to the Biryani part for which it is known for..must say the Biryani tasted well, pcs were well cooked and tasted pretty well. One special mutton biryani will be enough for two people. Ambiance and behaviour of the staff is good but i must inform u that never ask those people what to order from people who takes your order not in a white dress they will suggest u sumthing which they even dnt hv an idea about what it taste likes whether it is sweet/sour/chilli..if u r confused with ur order only ask the person who are in white dress as they are the seniors and they knw all about thr food.. One of the best person to discuss ur order with is Mr. Iftikar. Ultimately i would recommend a thumps up 3.5...
