Now coming to the real Brunch…
Salads : A brunch is always about good spread of Salads and they did spread it well with…
Veg Salads : Russian Salad, Honey Mustard Woldorf Salad, Sprout Salad, Panzanella Salad, Aspars Bean & Potato Salad, Raw Papaya Salad, Pesto Marinated Grilled Veg Pasta Salad.
Non-Veg Salads : Carrot and Chick Pea Salad, Seasonal Veggies with Roasted Lamb, Chicken Hawaiian Salad, Pickled Cabbage with Bacon Salad, Tomato & Mushroom & Egg Salad.
Soups : Minestrone Alla Genovese Soup : A classic veg soup with seasonal veggies.
Chicken Sweet Corn Soup : An all time favourite Chicken soup.
Starters : There were only 4 starters, but that is how brunch should be like. Brunch stands for Breakfast + Lunch, so it should mainly focus on salads and breads for covering breakfast part. However all 4 starters were very good.
Honey Chilly Potato : This Chinese starter is in trend nowadays. Crispy fired French Fries tossed into spicy Chinese sauces and garnished with little bit of Honey for that mild sweetening flavour.
Paneer Tikka : Big paneer cubes grilled but not very spicy as tikka should be.
Sarsowali Maahi : Extremely soft fish with mild flavour mustard, thats what Maahi kebab is called.
Barbecue Chicken Wings : Simple Chicken wings tossed in barbecue sauce.
Live Counter : We took Cheese Masala Omelette from their live counter. This stuffed omelette made of maybe 4 eggs was must for brunch. Also we took Blueberry pancake and Choco Waffle that was quite nice.
Mains : Chinese : Corn and Cheese Fried Rice, Singaporean Curried Noodles, Chicken Tai Chin.
Indian : Steamed Rice, Yellow Daal Tadka, Hara Moong Daal Tadka, Paneer Shimlamirch, Jodhpuri Aloo Dum, Corn Methi Matar Masala, Subz Jhalfarezi, Gobinda Bhog Polao.
Non-Veg Indian : Chicken Biriyani, Laziz Gosht Handi.
Thai : Thai Red Curry Vegetables, Prawn in Yellow Curry.
Continental : Four Cheese Baked Vegetables, Char Grilled Fish with Lemon Butter Sauce.
In all the main courses my personal favourite was Gobinda Bhog Polao that went extreamy well with Laziz Gosht Handi. Although Polao was bit over cooked but well cooked delicious Gosht Handi made this combo best of all.
Apart from that their Chicken Biryani was really nice. Unlike other places Chicken in their Biryani was having different flavour to get attracted.
Four Cheese Baked Vegetables was truly mind blowing with all that mixed cheesy flavours. As well as Singaporean Curried Noodles that tasted really nice.
Desserts : American Desserts : Cherry Chocolate Pastry, Fruit Custard, Cream Caramel, Passion Fruit Panna Cotta, Tiramisu Slice, German Chocolate Slice, Mango Cheesecake, Fresh Fruit Gateau.
Indian Sweets : Sita Bhog, Gulaab Jamun, Nolen Gurer Sandesh.
All were good but I loved the India Sweets most. I personally think nothing better than Indian Sweets while talking about desserts.
Conclusion : Phew!!! What a long menu. I’ve hardly seen this much dishes in any buffet.
Apart from that what I liked about Social Kitchen the most, they don’t compromise on any dish. Unlike other buffet places where Main dishes are usually dull after wonderful starters.
Our Sunday Brunch experience went really well with Social Kitchen. Planning to...

Read moreHuge buffet with a super slow service! The Social Kitchen is the primary restaurant of the newly opened Holiday Inn near the Airport. It shares its space with the Urban Kitchen, which turns out to be the lounge version of the Social Kitchen. The structure of the hotel has been done up well with well-appointed, cozy rooms. The roof the restaurant has a couple of beautiful art decorations installed. They give a nice look and feel to the ambiance. Some sort of music could have bettered the ambiance a bit.
The restaurant serves both À-la-carte as well as buffet. The buffet spread is huge. The normal inclination of the spread is towards the main course, with equal importance to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The À-la-carte menu is quite compact and includes Asian, Continental and Indian dishes along with select cocktails and liquors.
I went for the buffet as their were more choices to put your hands on. The buffet has varied accompaniments like several salads, Watermelon with Feta cheese, Nachos with Salsa Dip, Plain Curd, Raita and several other spices to tag along and the like. There were about 6 veggies in the vegetarian section and 4 in the non-vegetarian section. The buffet spread included:
Dal Makhani - Very consistent throughout, one of the better dishes available here. Veg Jhalfrezi - Good choice in the vegetarian section. Wok Fried Noodles - Very oily and tasted bland. Paneer Aap Ki Pasand - The gravy of the paneer was thick and spicy. It can be chosen as the main dish along with your choice of breads. Prawn Malai Curry - The prawns were very soft and tender. It went well with the watery, yet smooth curry. Chicken/Veg Biriyani (s) - The biriyanis were not at all good. There was no chicken left in the rice and whatever rice was left, was dry and sticky. No worth of money at all. Steamed Rice - No one can go wrong with this one. Kung Pao Chicken - This Chinese dish was somewhat okayish. Fish in Pepper Sauce - The fish was oily and the gravy was not that great. The main course had Pizza and Pasta in the live counters.
The food tasted average. The worst part was the service. "Extremely" slow service. In the entire restaurant which was 80% occupied, there were only 3 waiters attending the tables. The restaurant manager stepped in to take our orders. The pizza and pasta was so late that it arrived 'after' we had our meals. Terrible service. Even the cocktails arrived very late. My Long Island Ice Tea was stuffed with ice.
The buffet is huge but the food taste and quality turns out to be average. You can lot better buffets at the price that you are paying. It was priced @ Rs. 1099++. You can rather choose the À-la-carte instead and save yourself from the pricey,...
