Tried out Covai Anganan at Lakshmi Mills for their much-talked-about Kongu-style biriyani, and honestly, I had mixed feelings. The ambience was neat and minimal, and the staff were courteous. But the overall experience didn’t completely match the hype.
I ordered mutton biriyani, mutton chukka, and tender coconut pudding. The biriyani had that signature wet and mildly spiced Kongu-style flavour, more on the subtle side with hints of ghee and garlic. While it’s definitely different from regular Tamil or Hyderabad-style biriyanis, I found the quantity to be quite small, especially considering the high pricing. Not really filling, and the meat portions were minimal with more bones than flesh.
The mutton chukka was the highlight of the meal. It was well-cooked and packed with deep, spicy flavour. The texture was great—crispy edges and tender meat inside. I wish the biriyani had the same intensity.
To end on a sweet note, I tried their tender coconut pudding, which was actually quite good. It had a soft, creamy texture with a refreshing natural coconut taste—not too sweet, just right. It felt like the perfect finish to a heavy meal.
Overall, it’s a nice place if you want to try authentic Kongunadu-style non-veg in a more polished setup. But I personally felt the pricing was on the higher side for the portion sizes offered. Good food, but not completely value for money.
Good for a one-time try if you're curious about Kongu cuisine—but keep your expectations in check, especially on...

This place has never disappointed us on taste. I was very happy to see this new branch located at Lakshmi mills. 🍵☝️
I remember Earlier days how we craved for angannan Briyani at VARIETY HALL road. The same taste and same quality with very much improved interiors competing to the recent market. 🪜✌️
Out and out the Briyani was the best of kongu Briyani. Authentic!!! 🔥❤️❤️❤️
The brain fry and chukka was too good and definitely not be missed. Was so lucky even at 8pm we got the brain fry and it was so fresh.
The place was much a plus located inside tristar towers . Good parking space and restrooms allocated are the ones used for swimming pool tri star community member residents. But maintained very neatly and sparkling clean.
Again and again , many a times now addicted to this place. And for sure we are very delighted and very happy our own and pride ANGANNAN Briyani has grown this much and competing to the standards and giants in this business.
For the taste , for the love, for the richness , for the Briyani……
