This restaurant offers a delightful ambiance with a choice between roof dining on the first floor and open dining on the ground floor, creating a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. However, the seating arrangement feels a bit congested, which can impact the overall comfort.
Food Review
The food was generally good, with a mix of hits and misses. Here's a breakdown of what we tried
Appetizers and Mains:
Chicken and Crab Soup: Unfortunately, this dish fell short. The soup had a raw smell and lacked the authentic Chettinad flavor, leaving it quite plain and unappetizing.
Devil’s Chicken, Malai Broccoli, Tandoori Chicken, These were well-prepared and flavorful.
Indian Breads (Butter Naan, Garlic Naan), Soft, fresh, and perfectly made.
Fish Polichathu and Pepper Prawn: Both dishes were delicious, with the Pepper Prawn being the standout – a must-try!
Prawn Chettinad and Kallan Milagu Varuval: These dishes had excellent flavor and were cooked well.
Chicken Nuggets: Unfortunately, these were disappointing. The nuggets were overly large, which made them chewy and unappealing.
Desserts: Kunafa: It was just okay. The texture was too hard and didn’t provide the melt-in-your-mouth experience you’d expect.
Nungu Payasam: A good choice – light and enjoyable.
Shahi Tukda: Decent in flavor, but the bread wasn’t properly soaked in malai, which affected the texture.
Caramel Gustard: This dessert was enjoyable with a unique flavor profile.
Mud Pie with Ice Cream: This was the biggest letdown – the flavors didn’t work, and the dish was poorly executed.
Other Recommendations: Indian breads and gravies were consistent highlights.Pasta dishes were also impressive and worth trying.
Overall Experience
While the food had its moments, there were a few disappointments with overcooked or poorly executed dishes, especially in the dessert section. The pricing feels a bit steep considering the quality. If you visit, I recommend sticking to the Pepper Prawn, Indian breads, gravies, and pasta. However, skip the Chicken Nuggets and Mud Pie with Ice Cream.
Suggestions The restaurant could work on refining some of its dishes, particularly the desserts and soups, to elevate the dining experience. Improving the seating arrangement for more comfort would also be a big plus.
Despite its shortcomings, the experience was enjoyable, thanks to the lovely ambiance and some...
Read moreTitle: Mixed Bag of Experiences at BIRD ON TREE
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
I recently had the opportunity to visit BIRD ON TREE and wanted to share my thoughts on the overall experience. While the hotel boasted a pleasant ambiance and enjoyable atmosphere, there was one aspect that fell far short of expectations: the popcorn chicken.
Let's start with the positives. The overall taste and ambiance at bird on tree were commendable. The hotel exuded a charming atmosphere, with well-designed interiors and a welcoming staff. From the moment I entered, I felt a sense of comfort and relaxation, which added to the overall enjoyment of my stay.
However, it is regrettable to say that the popcorn chicken I ordered left much to be desired. As a fan of this classic dish, I was eager to try the hotel's version. To my disappointment, the chicken didn't resemble popcorn chicken at all, both in appearance and flavor. The pieces were oddly shaped and lacked the crispy texture one would expect. The seasoning seemed inadequate, resulting in a bland taste that failed to meet my expectations.
While it's possible that my experience was an isolated incident or a misstep in the kitchen, I believe it's essential to address this shortcoming to maintain consistency in their offerings. I hope the hotel management takes note of this feedback and takes steps to improve the quality and presentation of their popcorn chicken.
Despite this setback, I would still recommend bird on tree for its overall pleasant ambiance, and other culinary delights that may prove to be more satisfying. The popcorn chicken may have missed the mark, but it is important to acknowledge the broader experience that this hotel offers.
In conclusion, while bird on tree has several positive attributes, including a welcoming ambiance and attentive staff, the disappointing popcorn chicken served during my visit was a letdown and they didn’t even consider a return for the dish. I hope the hotel addresses this issue and continues to strive for excellence in all aspects of its culinary offerings.

Read moreI came here with my group of friends as we tried almost all buffet restaurants in Coimbatore and wanted something new this time. First of all the location is good from outside and interior is done in a different way ( that's what they overcharge for), still the overall ambience was very dull. We were given a decent place and I observed a nice cabinet space for 10 people and thought it was booked since they gave us a average spot to sit, but later I realized it's empty throughout the time we had food. Being there for the first time the staff must have the courtsey to offer a better seating option considering that we were 8 people.
Now coming to the food, there are a lot of options in starters, presentation of the food was great but the main factor, the taste was pretty vague and you can have much better food at half the price at other places. The sizzler missed fries and the noodles offered with it was just a tiny bowl, that you could finish in 2-3 spoons (not at all worth 550 rupees spent on it). Then we ordered a brownie shake whose consistentcy was like water, milkshakes are meant to be thick and of course more when you add brownie to it, also that was another 225 bucks with quality not even equal to a 50 rupee shake. My friends ordered North Indian cuisine which was still fine but couldn't justify the price.
Also considering it was fine dine, the staff wasn't properly trained at all, they brought the bill as soon as the food was over but didn't get the finger bowl and mouth freshners unless we finally waited and asked them to bring it. Also they would keep paid water bottles at the table and never care to ask for regular water as option, I had to ask for it separately as well.
P.S: I was going to give 1.5 but settled with a 1 as it isn't worthy of 2. Pictures may seem good but not worth the compromise on taste and the money you're paying for it. It's better to go for a cheaper restaurants in Gandhipuram side or if you have a good budget, going for a buffet is always better.
THE GOOD REVIEWS I HAVE SEEN, THEY EITHER HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT FOOD AND HAVEN'T BEEN TO GOOD PLACES, OR THEY MUST BE FROM HOTEL MANAGEMENT. THIS PLACE IS A SHAME IN THE NAME OF...
