There are various kinds of museums across the country. Still, when it comes to automobiles, especially vintage cars from the 19th and 20th centuries, nothing matches the collection at the Gedee Car Museum.

The entry ticket is around Rs. 250 to enter the museum, but you can understand why this is famous once inside. In the initial passageway, there are posters and narratives of all kinds that show how the wheel was invented and how various chariots were used by kings and emperors worldwide for battles and traveling purposes. This also includes narratives about various Indian kings.

Once you move further inside, you will see a small hall showing a visual comparison via a simulated video of the fastest globally available cars. Moving further inside, you will find models of all the cars that have ever been produced and are iconic from the 19th century. The companies include everything from Ford, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota, and the like. Cars from the 1940s produced by Peugeot and Citroen are also on display. Even a Hispano Suiza and Limousine is on display. Cadillac Seville 1993, one of the many iconic cars of the century, can also be found in the collection.

While the museum's ground floor displays all cars from foreign companies, the first floor is dedicated to the Indian automobile industry. All cars ever produced by Indian automobile companies are on display, including Tata, Maruti, etc. The premier Padmini, which has ruled the roads of Mumbai as the Kaali Peeli taxi for decades, is also on display. And so is the Maruti 800, the best-selling car for decades.

Thus, overall, if you are in Coimbatore, you should in no way miss visiting the museum, especially if you are an...

This is for the Car museum, I think there's another Industrial a museum at the same location but I wasn't a interested in it. Ticketsn adult and surprisingly there's no extra charge for cameras. There is car parking and bike parking. Make a note that you aren't allowed to take your bags inside unless it's a handbag so try not to take any valuables. The car museum is small but has a great variety of cars, some which have been put up for exhibition or gifted by other owners (you'll see their name and photo on a small placard) They're all authentic cars and are in great shape and well maintained. Staff inside (one girl I think) was extremely knowledgeable and I overheard her answering and talking about the cars in detail to a few other visitors. There are more than cars, there were a few bikes but apart from one vintage motorcycle the others looked out of place. One thing that I loved was that they had two cars that had been spliced in half and were up for display. One thing that I did not like was all the information at the back. I would have preferred the typography and other design to have matched the vintage feel to the place. Overall great place to visit if you are a car enthusiast or just need to waste an hour and like looking around then this is a good place to be. On a final note, this is not a place to take children below 10, sure they'll enjoy looking at the cars but they'll be just as excited of you buy them ice cream.
