Eggs Benedict @cafe.olio
Eggs are extremely versatile & delicate at the same time. A few seconds off & you may completely ruin their texture. A change in texture also means a change in taste.
Since tastes are subjective; a lot of restauranteurs face a common & extremely frustrating problem where their authentic perfect egg dishes end up being criticized by the customers.
The runny poached eggs don't fly with every diner in our city, hence, the servers ask if you'd want runny Eggs or not. Similarly, if you're averse to runny Eggs then this may not be the review for you!
The Eggs Benedict @cafe.olio happens to be one of the best in Tricity.
YES; it is without a doubt & I realized why @hukmesachdeva confidently recommended it last year when I was on a quest to find an exceptional one in the city.
Perfectly Poached Eggs served with cured Pork Ham on an English Muffin topped with luscious hollandaise and a few chives is what made my brunch exceptional!
The magic was simply in that hollandaise! I've never described hollandaise as somewhat light! This one was and left me surprised!! Perfectly emulsified; aptly acidic & creamy yet comparatively light; one of the best I've had recently.
Slicing through the stack (Pic 3) the hollandaise combines well with the fatty creamy flavor of the runny yolk, the salty savory ham comes in as a slight contrast and each bite rounds off well with the English Muffin! I was singing praises for the Chef with every bite wearing a huge smile; I think at last I have a place that'll satiate my Eggs Benedict cravings now!
I stick my head out for the Benny here, and would highly recommend trying it for brunch in this weather sitting on their beautiful terrace basking in the Sun!
If they had loungers, you'd probably find me napping there after the fantastic Brunch! @hukmesachdeva are you...
Read moreThis cute little cafe is a such a surprise amidst the hustle bustle of sector 35. Hidden among the gaints this one is a must visit place. The ambience and the interior has my heart!
The cafe has been conceptualized so smartly and logically that every nook and corner of it has been used. It gives such a raw and yet a romantic aura.
The swing seats are a must see. I wish the sing seats were a bit more comfortable with some sort of cushion, because seating for and hour or so can be a little uncomfortable .
The staff is courteous, prompt and friendly. A well educated and quick staff is what makes the cafe all the more enjoyable.
The food: We ordered hazelnut frappe, an apple, kiwi gingerale mocktale and the chicken rotisserie. It was sumptuous, and well balanced. The presentation gets an A+.
I like how the plate the rotisserie with rice and sauces and rooted veggies which helps balance the chicken and thus becomes a wholesome meal in itself.
Ones who are first time visiters and don't want to experiment can choose this as a safe option. You won't be disappointed, trust me!
However sadly I need to put a four star, because I feel it is a bit overpriced. They either need to increase the quantity or lower the price. Another thing is that it has a limited menu, which can be disadvantage from the point that people who look for a variety of meal may be stuck to only pizza, pasta and chicken types.
However all in all it is must...
Read moreCafe Olio definitely grabs the spot if you want to experience a beautiful ambience, amazing food and warm hospitality. It's like a hidden gem in Sector 35-B as it's situated inside a lane. The cafe looks tiny from the outside but it's beautiful and incredibly spacious from the inside. It has 3 floors and the 3 floor offers you Rooftop Dining and the view and setting is just as beautiful as the inside is. Also one of the cleanest washrooms I have ever seen in a chandigarh cafe goes to Cafe Olio.
I tried the Butter Croissant with orange marmalade, Veggie tempura roll, Cheesecake with seasonal fruits and for the drink I ordered a Mimosa. Every single item was delicious and perfectly seasoned. The mimosa was made to perfection .The cheesecake was yumm and the croissant was warm, buttery and so layery ! I didn't enjoy the tempura roll much as it had fried vegetables and it tasted a bit oily to my liking . But this small issue can be easily overlooked as the whole experience was too wonderful for me.
Please ask for Mr. Vineet for recommendations and anything as he's easily one of the sweetest people I met. He was asking us consistently if we were liking the food and enjoying the ambience. The service offered by him and the staff was exceptional.
Definitely visit for beautiful ambience, yummy food and a heartwarming gastronomic...
