USA citizen here. We went here in high hopes. Upon arrival, the entry area had the lights turned off. I had to demand for them to turn on the lights so we would not fall. Bathroom was very small, dirty and tacky. I have seen better bathrooms in Public Government facilities. Definitely not up to Chandigarh/ Western Standards. Hand sink was outside the washroom and had no towel. Forgot to mention that parking was impossible and we had to wait for a spot, yet the lot attendant was allowing vehicles to enter and collecting fees.
We proceeded downstairs to the seating area. There was a gentleman sitting at the service desk with his feet up. We sat ourselves and had to tell him to play music as our voices were echoing and causing an uncomfortable silent ambiance. He made a rude face. We then placed our orders. We had to continuously ask the server to speed things up as it was taking way too long. After much delay, the orders embarrassingly came in black plastic plates. Food was mediocre, nothing spectacular. Naan were served by 2 pieces only and the server did not pay any attention. If proper service was offered, naan plate would never be left empty as the server would continuously bring fresh naan.
Sindhi was my first dining experience in Chandigarh and was a great disappointment. Go...
Read moreSindhi Sweets, especially the Sector-8 branch has been my food companion since college days, as it was the nearest good economical eating joint to our college. I can recall so many get-together and small parties in the basement of this branch, nostalgia struck, I certainly have fond memories attached with this place.
I revisited this place yesterday, when two of my friends had a craving for Ras Malai and there could be no better place but Sindhi Sweets, to satisfy their sweet taste buds. The place needs no introduction and is rated right at the top for their sweets, which are awesome and they have undisputedly maintained the reputation of being the best in the city.. They should therefore be somewhere held guilty for obesity of Chandigarhians :P :P
Coming to their food - I didn't want to say this, but the food quality has taken a small hit in terms of service, quality and taste, though place still continues to be a one point destination for Channa Bhaturas, Pav Bhaji, Dhokla's, their famous Raj Kachori, Masala Dosa, Amritsari Kulcha, Kesar Ras Malai and Kulfi Faluda..I can't see a major competition or substitute for Sindhi in these areas.. :) :)
Do visit the place. You will not be...
Read moreI used to dine in during my lunch hours once in a while but Last time I went to have lunch i found it very annoying that a simple grilled sandwich will take half an hour to prepare so I ordered a chaat to grab quick bite before lunch ends turns out it will take half an hour too cause someone after me has placed an order for bigger group and thats a priority. It's important to run a business but in a food business customer service is what matters and i highly recommend not to eat here cause they will prioritize their bigger orders and secondly they don't care about serving food on time you will get your noodles cold if they have to serve a bigger group first. Whether you are three people or a couple or whatever...
