Virgin Courtyard — Restaurant in Chandigarh

NO. I CAN'T SAY IT ENOUGH BUT NO!! What is this stupid fascination of Chandigarh cafes with over the top ambience and below average food? So we went to the Virgin courtyard to celebrate my friend's birthday. We were excited, hopeful, all chirpy about the celebration. You should have looked at our faces when we left the cafe, all the hope, and excitement was left behind in the cafe.. What we ordered -

1. Primavera Pizza- Saying Average is over selling it. No significant taste, no cheese as such (which btw is an integral part of Primavera pizza or any pizza). The only thing about it was the Kalamata olives and that too because of its name. I don't recommend it.
2. Mushroom Stuffed cheese It's exactly what the name says. No other ingredients, no other spices, just mushroom and cheese. 5 pieces for more than 500 rs. What a joke.
3. Tiramisu coffee No Tiramisu flavor, no taste of coffee as well.

Do I recommend it? If it is not clear by now , I will say it again. NO Good thing about it? The service. The staff was nice and attentive.

*All these cafes like Olive, Cottage, Virgin Courtyard, have the same decor. Those cane chairs and that bajri. Go there for photos maybe but never for the food..There are much better places with...

So this has been me and husband's favourite place to eat when we don't want to experiment with taste. We know that we will get good food here each time. Do 5 stars fo that.. But recently I attended a birthday party for a close friend. All we wanted to do was take pictures with our basic DSLR ( nothing super fancy, not a professional set up) but just a typical camera. We were told it's not allowed. We could click from a phone but not from a camera. We were very surprised...we asked for the logic, and all we were told was that it's against the policy - which has been in place for the past 9 years. The manager was polite, so I can't blame him. But we were all very surprised at this wierd policy. We were a large group of 25 and usually the phones aren't able to capture a big group set up.

I am still waiting for a convincing reason to not allow a camera in this age and time. What could we do with it in the premises, that could harm the restaurant in any way. Then was when I was also told that they only allow blue and white color decor for parties. Strange again (haven't fact checked it) but my friend who hosted an event here told us this. So I would...

We visited Virgin Courtyard first time. We had heard lot of good things about the ambiance and the Italian food served here. The place has two seating options viz inside dining and the open courtyard dining. We preferred inside seating as we had our 4 yr old daughter with us and it was hot outside. But if you want to have a perfect candle light dinner feel then you must try their outside seating area. Overall the ambiance of the place is wonderful. Plus the staff is very cordial and helpful especially the manager. He was on his toes all the time and catered to all our requests. Now coming to the food. The menu has variety of options, all Italian, ranging from pasta, ravioli, Risotto, pizzas, soup, etc. We ordered spaghetti in white sauce, all chicken pizza and Italian smooch. Spaghetti was good, but we did not like their all chicken pizza very much. Hopefully next we will try something else. Their Italian smooch was awesome. The best thing was their complementary bread with special type of butter served at the beginning. Our daughter liked it very much. Overall we enjoyed our experience.
