Flavours of Yangtze- Chinese Food Fest @ Eros, Nehru Place !!! 14th till 23rd September '18
Me being from HM PUSA and a passionate hotelier for over three decades always associate hospitality with warmth and courtesies extended to the guests and invitees to the fullest where guests go with happy memories to cherish for long, which I find missing in many big brands too these days, which is quite disappointing but #eros is one old property with great team and always serving with a smile and warmth and has got regular guests who have been patronising them for years.
Chef Nikhil and Chef Tenzin have been working with their heart and soul and do a thorough research of local cuisine of the region for which they host a food festival to bring in the flavours of that region after trials n trials to get the perfection.
On going "flavourofyangtze'' is the Chinese Food Fest from the region of Yangtze river, which is the longest river flowing across China and they have brought the most liked and famous food of that area. And on menu is the cuisine of Yunnan, Hunan and Sichuan in particular.
Crystal dumpling was the first starter we tried which had the filling of Tofu and Asparagus, was steamed and looked nice and tempting and tasted good. Then came Quenching Chicken which was marinated in Soya Sauce and tossed with Sichuan pepper and dry red Chillies.
Vegetable Soup with goji berry was a light clear soup with lots of veges. Mains had Jiangxi style whole fish in Soya Sauce, yunani chicken, Sichuan egg plant, Tofu stir fried , Veg Lomein ( Noodles) and veg fried rice. One has to have a taste for Chinese Food to enjoy the local cuisine.
In dessert Tangyuan which is a sweet rice dumpling which I had for gghd first time and didn't like much but Pumpkin cake was yummy which was slightly boiled then deep fried and coated with bread crumbs and looked nice too.

Read moreEros Hotel is located in the heart of South Delhi and has many restaurants from multi cuisine, north Indian to authentic Chinese. Empress of China is the Chinese restaurant of the hotel. The restaurant is helplessly romantic in the most beautiful way possible and is perfect for quiet dinner with loved ones or a quiet family dinner. The place has a fairy-tale charming vibe and the wooden interiors giving the place a very serene atmosphere.
Visited to try their ongoing Yangtze festival. The festival is based on the second longest river in the world which is the Yangtze river. They have covered food of the various regions in which the river flows.
Started off my meal with asparagus & tofu dumplings and quenching chicken. The quenching chicken had a bang on flavours while the dumplings were absolutely scrumptious in taste.
The goji berry vegetable soup is perfect for healthy food fanatics. The soup had a very subtle flavour topped with burnt garlic which gave it that perfect touch.
For mains and desserts they had a nice buffet spread in the restaurant in a zig zag fashion. Some of the recommendations in the mains include the Asian Vegetable with glass noodles, Tofu Stir Fry, vegetable lo mein and hunani chicken. The mains were out of the world delicious and had a good option in vegetarian too making it easy to dine with vegetarian friends. Ended the meal with pumpkin pancakes which satiated my sweet...

Thank you for a memorable and pleasant visit to the Eros Hotel in mid-June. It was very kind of you to show me around personally to all your F&B options at the hotel. We quite liked our experience at the Empress of China.
Sharing a few feedback points: The table service was not very responsive and refined. We had to try and catch the attention of the staff on numerous occasions. There was never an "eye on the table". Often empty glasses, bottles and plates were left on the table and had to be requested to be removed. The staff began laying the dinner plates while one of us was still finishing our appetisers. When we requested them to wait, the warmed up plates became cold. When they were laid again, these were cold. The order for drinks at the beginning took unreasonably long to deliver. The Pina Colada order was made poorly with the cream separating from the liquid. However this was rectified with a replacement being provided. The replacement was up to the mark. While overall the food was quite well made (Lobster Dimsums, Lamb, Chicken), the pork ribs were tough & chewy at the sides. The Hakka Noodles were ordinary.
I am confident the above issues will be sorted out at your end. We look forward to visiting again.
It was quite disappointing that my mail to you on 18 June 2025 remains...
