I usually don’t write negative reviews, but my recent visit to kalsang cafe, Majnu ka Tila was frustrating enough that I feel it needs to be shared.
I visited the cafe hoping for a relaxing hour of coffee and to have good time with a friend , but it turned out to be anything but comfortable. About 15 minutes after I arrived, the electricity went out — and stayed out for over an hour. To make matters worse, there was no power backup. That meant no Wi-Fi, no charging points, and most importantly, no air conditioning.
While a power outage can be outside the cafe’s control, what really disappointed me was the staff’s indifference. They didn’t bother informing customers or offering any kind of apology or compensation. When asked, they simply shrugged and said it happens sometimes.
The only attempt at comfort was a small table fan, which was nowhere near enough to beat the rising heat inside. It became stuffy and uncomfortable very quickly, and many customers, like me, had to cut their visit short.
A cafe should be a place where people can relax or work, especially when they market themselves as a cozy or work-friendly spot. Unfortunately, the poor facilities and lack of customer care made this visit a complete letdown.
I hope the management seriously considers investing in a power backup system and trains staff to handle such situations better. Until then, I won’t...
Read moreHorrible Horrible and simply HORRIBLE restaurant. One of my most underwhelming experiences happened at Majnu ka Tila when I visited the place after a long day to have some comfort food. To our horror this turned out to be the biggest mistake after I recommended my friends to have our lunch at this very restaurant (rather than going to our frequently visited go to restaurant)
Not only was the food bad which is still compromisable considering Korean Food is not everyone’s pallette and the situation or food preparation could be justified but the food took super long minimum of 30 minutes per dish, the staff did not attend to us as well. They passed us weird looks when we asked if me and my friends could have our set of chopsticks earlier than the food, they denied us and not until 5 minutes later they did give us a pair. The staff kept telling us since the first 15 minutes of our order that the food will be ready in 2 minutes which made the wait even longer. Our last dish came out after a whopping 45 minutes for which we paid and the restaurant staff seemed completely unapologetic of the wait as well.
The food tasted extremely stale and eggs seemed old as well.
All in all, would not recommend ever to waste your money at this...

reviews of the food we ordered:
jhol momo: very good, some people might find it a little spicy but 5/5 the momo bit tastes like a normal momo, but the gravy is unique lemon cheesecake: nice but its not very cheesecakey (as in texture was a little different) it leaned more towards whipped cream texture, it was lighter/less dense than a cheesecake but tastes good and quality is good too. 4/5 matcha latte: nice but some people might find it a little too sweet. the matcha flavour is good, it isn't too weak or strong rabokki: ramen wasn't that great, the tobokki was pretty decent. it was not spicy and wasn't that chewy either, so if you're new to korean food then this might be good for you as it's not too overwhelming. that being said, if you're a korean food lover who has these foods often you might be a little...
