Titled in 1757, uncultured or uncivilised when the company rule effectively came to India under queen Elizabeth’s royal charter, by East India Company , the indians were under direct control of british raj. Assumed to be uncouth, uneducated, barbarians and uncivilised according to their standard of living, they crowned themselves to be the first world mates superior and in command to debar orders. But what was left unnoticed in their domineering was, the unsuspecting, hardworking, raw, innocent, ingenious people willing to serve their “athiti”(guests) for a better life in anticipation of progression. Called out as Uncultured cafe and bar, sitting on the terrace and rooftop is a peerless example of being a proud “uncultured” yet civilised cultured space, raw, indigenous with sedulous personnel. Spanning over relatably acceptable cuisines like chinese, Italian, Mediterranean, lebanese, continental and Indian they’ve yet again proved the hospitable nature of India and most importantly indians. Onsetting my luncheon were the favourites of 90’s kids, assorted fryums. The plan was smoothly laid out of drifting me away from the world around into their arms. And the initial round was played by the vegan pawns. Saporous dahi ke kebabs with a hint of sweetness coming from the raisins was contrasted by the spicy vegetable cigar rolls. And however modern we’ll be our roots are as grounded, porous, flexible and clear as the flavours of the dhokla chaat with chatpati saunth and firey mint sauce. My side of the game was pretty clear, as all my pawns(taste buds, senses etc) were strategically taken down, and the check-mate teasing started with some carnivore rooks. The phuket fish flabbergasted me with its screaming fragrance, outspoken spicy and tangy flavours, whereas our bengal kasundi machchi tikka calmly with “nazakat” resided in my heart. But those royal, flirtatious Mughalai mutton seekh’s conquered me with their blue blooded depths of condiments that came with malabar parantha. Finally the teasing came to an end and my queen surrendered when the classic banoffee pie in a jar, layered turn by turn with cookie crumbs, chocolate sauce & whipped cream and hot, melting mud cake with toffee sauce and vanilla...
Read moreFirst of all, the rates they quote are higher than market prices. Therefore do check out other resto-bars before them! There is nothing unique that they offer!
Secondly, while taking a reservation, their manager, Amit, shall quote you an overall inclusive amount (net of taxes). But when you are checking out from your party, he shall demand an all cash payment, and shall not accept online payment. They will levy over you additional charges in the form of GST, Service Tax and VAT, if you're paying through UPI while settling the bill, which is against the terms he has agreed upon at the time of booking. This shall leave you helpless at the end moment. Therefore the best you can do is to remember to take a GST Invoice from them while checking out from their bar. They will also try to pressurise you with their own men dressed up as police personnel, hammering upon you to settle the bill ASAP and leave the bar due to timing constraints, but the catch is, neither of them will know a single inch about the law. So do not get intimidated by them and do stand by your own rights. Take the bill, make the payment and DO NOT pay them in cash. Any cash payment just goes down their pockets in the name of taxes.
It was the first time we hosted an event with them. Never returning again! Total Fraudsters! They took over an hour to generate a single authentic invoice after demanding extra payment...... Also,
Dear Amit, it sucks to be doing what you do! Best of luck in the future with your karma returning...
