Zooby's Kitchen in Kalindi Kunj is a cozy eatery with a good reputation for serving quality food. After hearing rave reviews, I decided to dine there recently and had a mixed experience. Here's a detailed account of the dishes we ordered and the overall dining experience.
First Course: Chicken Lollipops – A Delightful Start We kicked off our meal with their Chicken Lollipops, and it was the highlight of the evening. The chicken was perfectly marinated, crispy on the outside, and succulent inside. The flavor profile was balanced, with the right hint of spice. If you're a fan of starters that hit all the right notes, this dish will certainly impress you. In fact, it might just be one of the best versions of chicken lollipops I’ve had in Delhi. This dish set a high bar for the rest of our meal.
Main Course: Mutton Dum Pukht Biryani – A Delicious Offering Next up, we ordered their Mutton Dum Pukht Biryani. Served in a clay pot, the biryani was aromatic and beautifully presented. The long-grain basmati rice was cooked to perfection, and the mutton was tender and juicy, falling off the bone with ease. The spices were well-balanced, offering an authentic taste that did justice to the traditional Dum Pukht cooking style. This dish truly stood out and is a must-try if you’re visiting Zooby's Kitchen.
A Disappointing Turn: Mutton Rogan Josh Unfortunately, the evening took a nosedive when we ordered the Mutton Rogan Josh. I was dining with a meat aficionado, and the moment we took our first bite, we both noticed something off about the dish. There was a peculiar smell coming from the mutton that left us doubting its freshness. After digging deeper, we both speculated whether the meat was mutton at all—it had the texture and odor more akin to sheep or even old mutton. The smell was overwhelming and spoiled the entire experience of the dish.
We raised the issue with the waiter, and to his credit, he swiftly escalated the matter to the owner, Mr. Zafar. Under his guidance, they replaced the dish. However, even the second serving was no better. The meat was stale, if not outright rotten, which confirmed our initial concerns. Though we had the option to reject the dish, we chose to pay for it as a matter of principle, despite the disappointment. Unfortunately, the bad taste of the Rogan Josh lingered, both literally and figuratively, and overshadowed the earlier positives of the meal.
Service and Ambience: The staff was attentive, especially when addressing our complaint, and the waiter did his best to resolve the issue. The owner, Mr. Zafar, was accommodating and polite, though it’s unfortunate that the replacement dish didn’t meet expectations. The restaurant itself has a welcoming vibe, with comfortable seating and a warm ambiance.
Zooby's Kitchen excels in some areas, with their chicken lollipops and mutton dum biryani being standout dishes. However, the poor quality of the Mutton Rogan Josh really tarnished what could have been a great dining experience. For those considering a visit, I’d recommend sticking to their tried-and-true dishes, but be cautious when venturing into the more delicate items like Rogan Josh.
While Zooby's Kitchen has the potential to deliver a memorable meal, our experience was marred by one dish that left a lasting negative impression. Hopefully, they take the feedback seriously to ensure better quality control...
Read moreFew days back I had the pleasure of dining at Zooby's Kitchen restaurant and also ordered food from them for home delivery, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience. From the wide variety of options on the menu, there were many delicious dishes that stood out, but my absolute favorites were the noodles and the Chicken Steamed Momos.
The noodles were not only plentiful in quantity but also incredibly flavorful. Each noodle was perfectly cooked and so smooth that you could actually count each noodle separately. The taste was simply fantastic, leaving me wanting more with every bite. It's safe to say that Zooby's Kitchen has mastered the art of making noodles.
Now, let's talk about the Chicken Steamed Momos. These little pockets of joy were truly out of this world. What set them apart was the use of clean and fresh chicken, unlike any other place I've tried in Delhi. The momos were incredibly tender and packed with delightful flavors. They were hands down the best momos I have ever had in my life. And to enhance the experience, the accompanying red hot spicy chutney was the perfect complement.
When it comes to beverages, Zooby's Kitchen has truly impressed me. The Strawberry Chocolate frappe was a delightful treat. It had just the right balance of sweetness and rich chocolate flavor, making it the most delicious shake I've ever had. On hot days, the Virgin Mojito and Fresh Lime Soda were a blessing. They were incredibly refreshing and helped quench my thirst. Additionally, their non-alcoholic Pina Colada was a rare find. The taste was heavenly, and the perfect combination of flavors was simply perfection. The quantity and viscosity of the drink were spot on, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.
In conclusion, Zooby's Kitchen has left a lasting impression on me with its fantastic food and beverages. I highly recommend Zooby's Kitchen to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience or a delicious meal delivered to...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but my recent visit to Zooby's Kitchen in Nainital was so distressing that I feel compelled to share my experience.
From the moment our meal arrived, it was clear something was drastically wrong. The non-veg dishes, particularly the chicken, were not only unappetizing in appearance but also emitted a strong, unpleasant odor of spoilage. The chicken was discolored and had a sour smell, which was a clear indication that it was far from fresh.
Despite my initial concerns, I took a bite, only to confirm that the food was rancid. The texture and taste were off, signaling that this was not simply a case of poor preparation but rather spoiled food that should never have been served.
We immediately brought this to the attention of the staff. They did apologize and offered to replace the dishes, but given the severity of the issue and the risk to my health, I was in such shock that I couldn't bring myself to order anything else. I decided to leave the restaurant, paying the bill despite the troubling experience.
For reference, I have attached the bill invoice to this review.
The experience was not only unpleasant but also deeply concerning from a health perspective. Zooby's Kitchen needs to address these critical food safety issues urgently. I strongly advise anyone considering dining here to think twice, as the risk to your health and the inadequate handling of the situation make it a place I hope never to return to.
Feel free to adjust any part of the...
