Upon a suggestion from a friend, I headed the first time in October and all that we ordered was just good in quality, quantity and presentation. And we are not tourists but Local Goans visiting this quaint but beautiful Cafe called Babka.
Reading a few reviews, I must say, today (13th November) I visited the place with my two young children, and they equally loved the place and what they served us as well. We were lucky to have met the owner Karishma and I expressed her about how we enjoyed what we had and my 9 year old girl too mentioned she loved the classic eclairs, and I must say, she was ever so welcoming and spoke with us with a smile.
We had the smoked grill chicken sandwich a hit, the helo berry smoothie just yum. Beetroot humus with avocado had that healthy feel to it yummy. We took the super moist Tiramisu home, their chiffon strawberry cake was super fresh as ever, we literally saw trays being refilled, such is the aura of the place.
This review comes from the heart but surely everything we ate and took home had a lot of taste. I did request the Owner if they could introduce the classic humus as that was my children's favorite, having said that Babka surely has found a secret regular who would frequent the place for that relaxing coffee or smoothie and a bite of a savory. FOR Sure..
The service staff are polite, one needs to understand that this place has few tables upstairs and just 2 down and an outside seating arrangement, so you cannot give a negative rating on that basis, i walked in with my teenager and 9 year old and was warmly welcomed. Thank you for the warm service.
Wishing all success to the entire...
Read moreMy every visit to Goa has babka on the list. Babkaâs Baileys hazelnut, eclairs, German chocolate cake, almond & honey cake, orange carrot are a must try. While the desserts at Babka are undeniably delicious, the overall experience almost every time is spoiled by the disappointing attitude of the staff also when I read the reviews I see that majority of people have issues with the staffâs attitude or Sashaâs attitude i can understand 3-4 reviews are not completely genuine but there are many reviews stating disappointment with the staffâs attitude and when the owner replies to the comments his attitude is also not acceptable if you are running a business you should be open to feedbackâs or reviews and take it positively. As someone who appreciates good customer service, I was deeply disappointed by the condescending demeanor of both the staff and the owner. It's a shame that such tasty treats are overshadowed by such unwelcoming attitudes. It's unfortunate that the ego of the owner seems to take precedence over creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for customers. A bakery should be a place of joy, not a platform for ego trips. While the desserts are definitely worth indulging in, the lack of respect and friendliness from the staff leaves a bitter aftertaste. It's disheartening when the sweetness ends at the pastries and doesn't extend to the service. No amount of delicious pastries can compensate for the lack of basic courtesy and respect towards customers. It's disappointing when you leave a place with a sour feeling despite the sweetness...
Read moreIf your a group of more than 4 you should not even try your luck here. The place is small. The staff don't like groups even if you sit on different tables. From the moment we entered they started to be rude and said we have a policy against groups. We kindly said we are ok to sit on separate tables and did not want to disrupt their table setup (and the tables were empty). They argued they have a policy of groups are not allowed. After they could not argue we would sit on seperate tables we sat down. Tables became available (same chairs, same table not moving any furniture) so we said we would appreciate to sit next to each other (again all tables empty). They then made a new rule off not more than 5 people sitting on the same floor. They said because you know each other you cannot sit on the same floor! I won't even explain how this rule makes zero sense but they kept arguing about their arbitrary/non logical policy. They pointed to the board which clearly did not reflect all the 'on the fly' rules they decided to make.
There is one thing about respect and customer service but the lady Sasha had made up her mind when we entered. Sadly the whole experience was bad for us, bad for other customers who also thought it was ridiculous and and bad for the business overall.
When you have so many positive reviews sometimes if gets to your head and you think your bigger than the customer. This is unfortunately the case with this manager and restaurant. Success should make you more humble not arrogant. I hope they can learn from...
