Calamari Bathe & Binge — Restaurant in Goa

Good place to be. But their attitude has outgrown their ambience and service. We visit here 3-4 times every trip (we trip 2 times a year to goa) but this time their attitude was really not likeable. Don't sit here sit there after prior booking and conformstion on call and reaching on time, on asking dip ketchup khalo, their attitude has really become pathetic maybe because the restaurant is having high demand now. But would seriously recommend training of guest friendliness to manager and staff. Attitude of manager is even worse than waiters. They are sitting in bubble which will explode anytime. I am sure others might have also faced similar thing as it is not one time we faced this attitude in every visit, 4 times we visited in this trip. Off my list now.

We did book table over call because last time we came 2 days ago we were told zomato booking is not taken. You need to book on call and confirm timing. We were on time and had booked on call.

2 We requested only one dip not for squid but for french fries which had nothing along with it. Also we had requested not pushed. So training is required there. First of all request can't be treated with a response like ketchup khalo. Woukd you like that response if you are visiting any restaurant? If you say yes, then maybe we expected too much.

As told we have been visiting 3-4 times every trip and would ahave recommended restaurant to atleast 10-15 families. So no point framing which is very disappointing to see as a response from an owner who does not value customers as can be seen from staff attitude.

I had a full 5 star rating for your restaurant with a lovely feedback which I guess I gave couple of years ago. I edited the same to this one. So feedback is as per the service not as per any personal opinion.

Sorry to say, but My family runs multiple 4 star properties and this kind of response and Value to feedback will do no good to your restaurant as we believe in customer feedback being very important. You did respond and take time for vigil but response again reconfirms what I mentioned previously in my review that maybe demand bubble won't last. Anyways its upto you what to do with it not that it impacts me in anyway rather than just that very day your staff did impact our mood.

We did not order multiple dips first of all, we just requested if we can get only one dip-tartar. Response could have been we don't give rather than ketchup khalo. And that was for french fries you give for which nothing was given and is expected.

We didn't request multiple changes for table. My wife already had taken a table unknowingly that another table was reserved for us both were together and all tables beach facing were empty not that we came on full Sun evening. So that much accommodation was not an issue as such and even if it was could have been told politely rather than making other feel as if they have done a big mistake on coming there.

Obviously your senior most waiter as you said will ahe his own opinion and defence which I appreciate you are trying to understand and respecting your staffs opinion. But let me tell you this happened two days ago as well with your manager who troubled us a lot when we cam with our parents especially driving 1 hour and with all praise for restaurant to my parents. It was highly embarrassing when my parents had to request multiple times and manager said we don't consider zomato table bookings. Then why woukd you give an option there is bookings arr taken just by call. Despite all the hustle that day, we dis come again 2 times on subsequent days because soem how one time incident can't be the reason for a bad review. So all i all we visited 4 times in this trip out of which 2 were Ok.

Last but not least neither of the info provided by you is correct reageding sauce /dip/ multiple table changes etc.

Ever stumbled on those places that manage to tie everything so perfectly well together. The well thought ambience, the scrumptious food, the calming live music and the beautiful view of the beach made this such a memorable experience.

Ambience: (5/5) The are multiple seating options available for almost any need. (1) indoors on the hard floor (2) semi covered on the sand (3) tables facing the water towards the fence and (4) lounge chairs. Honestly what really sets this place apart is the fact that it is surrounded by some trees and plants given that it’s been around almost 15+ years. Hence you feel a lot more protected from the sun and elements of the whether. The lovely blue colour is great. The are ample fans around to ensure sufficient air circulation making it easier to sit outside during the heat. The live music was also excellent as the singer’s talent as well as the choice of music ensure that the experience was even more relaxing.

Food: (5/5) This was a little bit of a mixed bag initially, but as we hit the main course everything with top notch. Breaking down all the ordered.

Fish Masala: brilliantly made and paired perfectly with rotis Goan fish curry and rice: this is coconut rich gravy that was perfectly balanced - pairs well with the white rice veg. Tandoor platter: mixed as the veggies still seemed a little raw white sauce pasta: it was really nice as the cheese used was brilliant veg Goan curry: similar to the goad fish curry, the coconut flavour really heightened the overall flavour of the dish Paneer Butter Masala: was a little on the sweeter side for my liking, but the paneer was fresh and soft and well cooked. Pair well with the roti Red Wine Sangria: this was really refreshing as the fruity flavour was brought out really well with the combination of fruits and the amount of wine Coconut Water: brilliant presentation and well the coconut water was nice and sweet

Summary: (5/5) What a fabulous place to spend a lazy afternoon in Goa. This is by far one of the best shack’s I have been to. Perfect mix of all things you look for in a shack when coming to Goa for a relaxing couple days. VERY highly recommended.

Just one note to the management: please do get some Wheat Beers...

We had heard about the restaurant for some time but got to visit it today. Having our lunch there we stand testimonial for all the good reviews that the restaurant has received. The ambience is great with live music playing for the dinners. The performers were adding to the overall experience. They have option to get seated next to the beach and enjoy your delicacies. The restaurant being a shack is Non AC and Goa gets really hot at day time. So take your pic if you want to lunch next to the Arabian. My suggestion for families dinning along with the kids is to take a table inside. You can enjoy the view of the sea from inside as well. In case you are in Goa build your tan look then you may certainly choose to seat outside. The food is good and we found service to be really fast. It was a pleasant experience to find that the restaurant is sufficiently staffed. You may find the cost to be slightly on higher side but I found it value for money. The portion served is appropriate. They serve Indian, Continental as well as Chinese cuisines. One can order a variety of Goan food as well. The restaurant serves liquor and attracts local as well as tourists as guest. Parking may be a challenge on weekends. In case you are in North Goa and looking for spending some time having good food then you should visit Calamari. By the way, Deepika Padukone has probably visited the restaurant as you can find her photograph and of other celebrities at the entrance.
