It's a shame this isn't getting a 5 rating when it rightly deserves, and the blame for that squarely goes to the lady owner of the place. More on that at the end.
What's great here is the amazing food, fresh beverages, great ambience inside, plus a view of the sea to die for and above all the service of the staff. The waiter who attended us was super courteous and helped us with suggestions on our choices. We ordered ice teas, sizzler platters, potato cheese balls, fried rice with Manchurian gravy and more. Every bit of it was lip smacking. There's a certain charm to eat in shacks very close to the sea. And this one's rightly one of the best out there in overall Goa, most certainly in Vagator. We had so many other options, especially ones higher up in the hills with better parking amenities and high line view of the sea. But we chose Fish Tail purely for its rustiness & simplicity. And boy were we right. After a leisurely lunch and drinks, we hung around in their beach beds with umbrellas for close to 3 hours. A dip in the sea and back on the bed, with no interference. In fact, our waiter helped me get my phone charged during this time. We then ordered tea and snacks in the evening before lazily deciding to move finally, and the tea was super flavoursome too.
Now the part where the lady behind the counter (I'm assuming the owner) decided to throw a stinker in our otherwise special experience. Before leaving, I thanked my waiter again and went to the counter to this lady. I asked for a bottle of water (room temperature) & handed a Rs.100/- note. She returned Rs. 60/- to me and walked away. I felt something amiss, checked the bottle and it was Rs. 20/-. I asked the lady, "Ma'am, How much did you charge for the water?" and she curtly replied, "It's 40! 40!". I said the MRP is 20 and that's the most she could charge me. She said, that's our price. Take it or leave it. I was perplexed that she decided to take double the mrp for a bottle of water, yet wasn't even courteous enough to talk properly. Such a shame. Now the extra 20 didn't make me poor, nor did it take away from the brilliant experience we had otherwise. I simply didn't want to spoil my day by dragging this further, so I left it that. Any other day or place, this would've ended differently.
I just hope she appreciates how lucky she is to have the kind of staff she has at her disposal and learns some life lessons from them.
So in short, visit this place for the food, ambience and service. You'll enjoy it as long as you don't have to face the lady owner at...

Your shack might look great, but the food and service were absolutely terrible. Here's the reality you need to face:
The food was inedible—vegetarian items were stinking, the salad was stale, and the overall quality was shockingly bad.
The service was the worst—your staff didn’t listen to any of the concerns we raised and acted completely uninterested in resolving them.
Despite pointing out the issues to your waiter, we were ignored. Instead of addressing the situation, we were handed a ₹2800 bill without so much as an apology or any consideration for the poor experience.
What’s even worse is your attitude. You seem to think that anyone posting a negative review about your shack doesn’t understand food quality or service standards. That mindset is a bigger problem than the bad food or untrained staff. No tourist is out to tarnish your reputation—we’re just sharing honest feedback based on what we experienced. Goa thrives on tourism, and bad experiences like this affect not just your business but also the overall reputation of the local hospitality industry. An average tourist spends ₹70,000 on their trip—if they leave with memories like this, it’s unlikely they’ll return or recommend your place to others.
If you care about your shack’s future, you need to take feedback like this seriously. Improve your food quality, train your staff to actually listen to guests, and stop blaming your customers for pointing out the truth.
Deflecting with responses or brushing off reviews won’t fix the very real issues with...
Read moreFishtail restaurant was recommended by one of my friends. This restaurant is a hidden gem. The service was too good. The view was awesome. I went there at night and the whole atmosphere was peaceful. It was not at all crowded. The cool breeze from the sea made it more beautiful. I faced the sea and ordered Goan fish thali. All the items were very very tasty. Specially the king fish rava fry was awesome. Had it full stomach and blessed the night. This restaurant is also relatively old compared to the other restaurants in that area. The food was nice. The service was good. The atmosphere was awesome. Hence Highly recommended if you want homely food in a less crowded environment in the busy streets...
