My review is only for the restaurant and not for their resort. We only visited for breakfast this morning.
Had I been reviewing the resort I would probably rate it 5 out of 5. The place is beautifully tucked away in the forest and aesthetically designed, and their restaurant too is well designed.
However it is the indifferent service that we encountered that prompted me to give it a 2 star rating. The hostess at the entry desk greeted us and showed us to a table on the lower deck.
When we arrived the place wasn't crowded and gradually filled up as we waited. What was surprising was that after being seated we were almost ignored completely. Those who arrived after us got to place their orders first and were served before us.
We had to actually struggle to catch the attention of one of the service staff and had a long wait before we were served. We had ordered a Green Omlet Sandwich, an Avocado Sandwich, a Breakfast Power Smoothie and a Papaya juice.
When the order did arrive after an inordinate delay, they forgot to get the smoothie and the juice. Even spoons and forks were not provided and we had to specifically call one of the staff and ask for them.
We had to wait for another 15 minutes before we got our drinks, by which time we were more than halfway through the sandwiches.
The sandwiches themselves were very average and the avocado sandwich was totally bland. Considering their prices we certainly expected better.
Even to get the bill we had to catch their attention and wait for a few more minutes.
After settling the bill we took a stroll around the property, where more cottages are being added. The property itself is very good but if their restaurant service is any indication of their standards, I wouldn't be coming here, considering that it is expensive and located outside the main city areas.
Location and ambience alone are not incentives enough, unless backed by equally...
Read moreAmerican/German family traveling with toddler and pregnant: cannot recommend Mojigao highly enough. ❤️ It feels like an alternative jungle paradise with the highest standards of boutique rooms and healthy food we’ve seen yet in India. The cottages are superbly designed, decorated and clean. The food is fantastic, easygoing and healthy. The grounds are a rare treat: beautiful plant and wildlife to appreciate through each step of your stay. The staff go above and beyond to ensure your comfort, happiness and health. A great place to travel as a family or I can imagine extremely romantic as a couples getaway or a lovely place to go with a group of friends. Everyone was so caring to our little girl- from setting up a super cozy bed for her upon arrival, to offering her a sweet treat as a surprise, saying hello every day and remembering her name- she felt super at home and we were able to fully relax too. Lots of kids came and went, though it never felt overrun with families. It was a great mix of ages and backgrounds. The spa is also just fantastic- a wide array of affordable offerings in a covered outdoor oasis surrounded by birdsong and tropical vegetation. The eco village has its own water filtration system which makes enjoying an iced drink or brushing your teeth not scary as a foreigner ;). We stayed only 3 nights and wish it had been more. There are ample things to do nearby with a taxi ride or renting a motorbike if you’re brave: markets, beaches and great nightlife (so I heard), and the location itself is so peaceful in a residential area so you won’t be dealing with busy street or town noise. Can’t say enough positive about it- thank you Mojigao, hope to see...
Read moreMany times you come across places that you have heard about from many people. You feel excited to go to that place only to be greatly let down. This place tops that list. I'm a restaurateur and a chef myself so I seldom write any negative reviews about restaurants but I'm sorry, I'll break my rules here for this place. In all fairness, the place is BEAUTIFUL. Surrounded by jungles and bird sounds, it's a nature lovers' paradise. Now about the actual restaurant service and the food - None of the wait staff wanted to be there. Not a single friendly smile to be seen. They took half an hour to provide me with a menu in spite of asking them for it 3 times, so in the meanwhile I helped myself over to the reception and took a menu, only for it to be taken away by the wait staff 5 minutes later saying that that menu has just closed for the day, and instead gave me a much smaller, pitiful menu (that has a very confusing and unnecessary Tapas section/system thingy that I still do not understand the need for). After finally taking our order 40 minutes after our arrival, our food took another hour to come. It was not worth the wait. The grilled seabass was good, but none of the tapas plates lived up to the hype. The smoothie bowls were absolutely horrible and they gave my friend a stomach ache. Much like the wait staff, none of the flavours in that bowl wanted or needed to be there. Not much else to say here without being uncivil, so I'll end my cautionary tale here. Come here for the views, have a beer or two, take in the bird calls and then go spend your dime on a...
