I have my list of dishes that I always get when I go to Izumi and they are incredible! The Hamachi carpaccio, teriyaki oyster mushrooms, charred napa cabbage (shocking I know it’s cabbage but it’s absolutely delicious), robata tenderloin skewers, and spicy garlic edamame. In cocktails- the wasabi whiskers, kitsune, and yuzu kazi. For dessert (I have tried most of them and except for the lovely black sesame ice cream everything else I’ve tried is very average). They used to have these delicious complimentary spinach in sesame dressing but I guess they’ve stopped giving that? Which is a little disappointing because given how much you end up spending at Izumi, the fact that they’ve now made this a paid item is a little absurd because you can’t actually have a whole dish of it. Overall, I love Izumi for these dishes and have returned several times for it because the flavors are unparalleled. However, for the price point I tend to be disappointed quite a lot by the quality of their other dishes (especially sushi rolls and sashimi). Some of the staff are super welcoming while others come off as arrogant. so while I recommend visiting Izumi without a doubt, there’s something missing that makes me give 4/5 stars instead of 5/5. If you charge that much the quality should be on par every...
Read moreI don't understand what the fuss is all about. Today was the second time i went to Izumi with the whole town ranting about it. The last time i remember the cocktails stank of rotten cucumber and old infusions. But the sushi rolls were bearable. Today was the experience that reiterated the concept of make a brand and sell it to the foolish and the rest follow. limit of ripping people off based on pure hype and opening a place in the city and the over flow of the city that wouldn't get a table come to a corner restaurant started in Goa because they wouldn't get a table in the city. Anyway the shsushi roll had tukda chawal from mapusa market one of the 153 rice strains of the paddy state so a Lehman couldn't differentiate. The scallopss were a joke. One scallop sliced into 8ish slices for a 1000 bucks . In a tea saucer. I understand small plates but imagine chopping a microgreen. The scllop was a chopped ocean microgreen. No doubt the service was great because any complaint was dealt with a this-is-from-us dish but that does not address the issue of sub standard ingredients and stingy cost cutting and riding on the back of a name they managed to build in the city. The ramen......
Read moreTheir contact numbers mentioned online don’t work, tried calling them multiple times over 3 days, never got a response. Over all platforms, their closing time is mentioned as 11:30pm, however despite reaching at 10:50, first thing their server mentioned (prior to presenting the menu) was that last order was in next 5 mins, and clearly told kitchen is closing. When I mentioned that I had tried making a reservation, their servers demanded to see my call logs- when shown, they got their own phone, and double checked and tried proving of having receiving no calls from my number. While I tried looking for the outgoing call I made, their server deliberately came behind me and tried snooping into my screen. Just because I came from palolem at such late hour, spend INR 5000 on a food bill, which I had to consume within 30 mins. Not only this, they also served all food (starters, mains & desserts) almost simultaneously.
Overall, a waste of money, and travel time, for overpriced food, and brutally disgusting service.
Won’t be recommending to anyone or...
