Read moreWe had a terrible experience at Salt Bar and Restaurant during our recent visit. Despite being regular visitors to North Goa and having enjoyed this place in the past, this time we were treated extremely poorly.
From the start, the attitude of the staff and manager was disappointing. One of us was directly asked where he belonged from, and the manager’s tone and expressions clearly generalised North Indians as ‘outsiders’. This was deeply insulting, especially since we were a family group with senior citizens and officers from the Indian Army — hardly a ‘rowdy’ crowd.
The music was unbearably loud, and when we politely requested it be turned down, we were curtly told that was the lowest possible volume. The plates smelled of egg and we were never served water despite asking several times — something basic that any decent restaurant should get right. (The owner can easily check the camera footage to verify this.)
What made it worse was the dismissive and rude attitude of the owner, the manager, and the owner’s wife. Instead of listening to our genuine concerns, they put the blame back on us and refused to acknowledge any lapse in service. When things could have been handled calmly, the owner himself chose to get loud and abusive instead.
It’s sad to see how poorly a place we once liked has started treating guests. We sincerely hope they reflect on this, because good food or music means nothing when the attitude is so...
Read moreReally big big disappointment! There were only two other customers. We ordered two naan with aloo gobi mutter, 1 lassi and 1 fresh lime soda. The waiter served lassi and soda within 10 minutes and after that I kept asking about the main course... and he said 2 minutes, but they took more than 50 minutes! Probably because they deliver to Swiggy or Zomato..and...the people who came after us. Two other tables came. Everyone got their snacks, food and alcohol before us..and they didn't serve us. After 50 minutes and asking multiple times if the food was coming and being told 2 minutes...we decided to pay for the lassi and soda and leave to go to a different place as we were starving. Around this place are many good restaurants . . We have lived in Goa for the last 3 years but trust me it was a terrible experience. The waiter and manager seem to only care about the people who order alcohol... otherwise non-drinkers have no value.
The waiter and Manager were rude as hell, and they didn’t feel sorry or apologize... they even wanted their service charge. No apology, nothing. It was a really bad experience.
