It must have been great but its over now, it must have been good but it lost it somehow....
Or so the song goes about this place. Fidalgo is a legendary hotel now in Goa and Aunty Maria had and still has a fanatic following though for what reasons beats me.
I have to agree that Aunty Maria is a great place to meet for its location on 18th June road is absolutely A plus plus. But it apparently is now content to relax on its past glory and just milk the cow till one fine day it drops dead.
The service staff, though earnest, is untrained is fresh around the year, and the bakes, which were once upon a time, or so I heard, exceedingly good were less than ordinary.
I have had cakes and coffee many times, which werent bad but than they werent great either. On my daughter's birthday I ordered a Black forest cake, which was just like eating one big, nondescript mess of cream laden with some sugar. We threw the cake away.
So if you like an ordinary cup of coffee in an ordinary place thats drinkable, by a reasonably earnest staff than hey, this is the place for you.
But on the other hand if you are fussy about your bakes and coffee, I suggest that you try Carasid one block away in Carasid or Cremeux's new cafe closeby serves very good coffee (and...

Aunty Maria's offers a decent selection of fast food, but the experience can be a bit hit-and-miss.
Highlights:
Burgers: The burgers here are a definite standout. Juicy patties, fresh veggies, and flavorful sauces make for a satisfying bite.
Pizza: The pizzas are also quite good, with a crispy crust and generous toppings.
Chicken Sandwich: The chicken sandwich is another winner, with tender chicken and a flavorful sauce.
Cold Coffee: The cold coffee is refreshing and perfectly chilled, a great accompaniment to the food.
Areas for Improvement:
Service: Service can sometimes be a bit slow, which can be frustrating when you're hungry.
Veg Sandwich: While the other items shine, the veg sandwich was just okay.
Overall:
Despite the minor service hiccup and the average veg sandwich, Aunty Maria's is a solid option for a quick and tasty meal, especially if you're craving burgers, pizza, or a good chicken sandwich.
I hope this...
Read moreIt was one of those late nights where we were out looking for some place open so we could grab a bite, and a friend mentioned to us that Aunty Maria's has the best biryani in town, and to top it off they're 24/7. We ordered the Nawabi Gosht Biryani (Boneless) and it did not disappoint. It comes with onion, chilli and lime on the side with a bowl of raita. No doubt delicious, the masala itself lacked a bit of flavour; and the biryani was a little bit dry owing to the fact that the gravy/masala at the bottom was limited. However, once you get through about 1/3rd of the very large bowl, that's when the gravy can actually be mixed properly, and it isn't too dry after that. The pieces of mutton (about 8 sizeable chunks) on the other hand, were absolutely awesome. Really well done and absolutely delicious. All in all, we'd definitely go back there, but this time, we'll make sure to tell the waiter to mix it up in the kitchen and...
