Myself, my wife and daughter travelled to Calungute from Anjuna for a pre birthday meal for my daughter who was turning 6 the next day. We went there on the basis that it serves vegan food (the restaurant themselves have made that claim here) and was recommended for vegans. I have been unable to digest milk products for many years. I politely asked the co-owner which vegan options they had and she curtly replied that they do not do any vegan food. This took me by surprise of course and I could see by the menu that there were indeed several dishes that do not contain or can be made without butter, ghee or paneer. I questioned this and replied that there must be one dish that can be made without butter since the food is not pre-prepared. She rudely told me to order something on-line instead! My daughter was very hungry at this point and had already ordered noodles. So taking the family out was not an option for me. I left the restaurant in search for food elsewhere but had to leave my family there who had already ordered. As I was away an explanation was offered to my wife that the reason they do not serve vegans is because of a bad experience that the owners had in the past with one of the partners who happened to be vegan. As I returned I questioned the husband of the rude lady, who offered another excuse that vegans are very particular and the reason that she denied to take an order from me was because âsome dishes have wheatâ and that vegans are more likely to be intolerant of gluten and that some of them are against palm oil! (I doubt very much that they use palm oil). Of course this have nothing to do with being vegan or being lactose intolerant, and was a ridiculous attempt to defend the atrocious attitude of his wife. My wife and daughterâs meal were thoroughly spoiled amidst the bickering and lame attempts to excuse the inexcusable. I never imagined that I would encounter such prejudice, and that too from a restaurant that prides itself on catering to vegans! I suggested that the woman in question offered my family a sincere apology for her rudeness, at this point she had beaten a retreat and left the husband to take the flak. He apologised for her behaviour on her behalf and thought that this was good enough (though she would have been unaware of this) he also confirmed that they do indeed have vegan food and he would be happy to take the order. It was too late by this point, I did not want to give the place any further custom. He even had the nerve to say that she probably wasnât aware that I was with my family (as if this makes her behaviour acceptable). I would give the restaurant no stars if I could for extreme rudeness, prejudiced and insulting behaviour and their attempt to justify such completely unacceptable behaviour. They also took 25 minutes to serve my daughter a plate of noodles. So one...
Read moreFood is ok however the most important is their behavior towards customers. Frist day in Goa when we find this restaurant and went for dinner with family then the staff was arguing with one of their customers in a very rude manner, but we didn't pay attention much. Second day they when we had dinner at the same restaurant because it's near to our hotel and we didn't like the food and I gave my feedback to restaurant that today's food is not up to the mark then we went to our hotel. Next day when we again visited then hotel staff started blaming us that we are telling other customer to not take food here and that's totally false allegation and besides all these when I am explaining that we didn't tell any other customer then they still stick to their point and keep arguing.
Food is not everything if they don't respect to their customers with the help of, they are running their business.
Goa is a place where we love to spend time with family and friends and if such incident happens then it spoils our mood.
Try to avoid this restaurant and I'll never go to this place again and neither...
Read moreWe chose the restaurant due to it being Pure Veg and close to the hotel we are staying in. The restaurant is run by a sweet family providing fresh food just like the fresh home-made food at a reasonable price. The food was delicious, as the food was fresh and tasty. The tea was not upto our taste as we were looking for Ginger Tea or Masala tea, other than that everything was good. We had our many meals here during our stay in Goa as our kids also loved the food. We tasted many items, Bread butter jam, Bread butter toast Upma,Onion uttapam,Poha, Chole bhature,Tea,Coffee Plain chappati, Dal Fry, Dal kitchdi, Chaas, Salad, Paneer sabzi, Veg Thaali. loved their service and hospitality. Also recommended to our friends who are soon...
