We have visited almost all the branches of 22nd Parallel in Vadodara and had decent experiences so far. However, our visit to the Manjalpur branch yesterday was highly disappointing. Here’s why:
No Parking Facility: Despite the complex having its own basement parking, we were not allowed to park there. This caused unnecessary inconvenience.
Unhygienic Conditions: The wash basin area was filthy and clearly not maintained, which was very off-putting.
Food Quality Issues:
The sambhar was served cold, which ruined the taste and overall experience.
We ordered Mysore Masala Dosa, expecting the usual flavorful and spicy dish, but it tasted bland and lacked any spices or flavors. It was no different from eating a plain dosa.
Drinking Water Problem: The drinking water they served tasted like regular tap water, which was unacceptable. We had to order mineral water instead. Shockingly, they charged ₹100 per bottle, whereas the standard price is usually ₹20-30. This felt like a blatant rip-off.
Service Issues: The staff seemed indifferent to complaints. Despite informing them about the cold sambhar and the lack of flavor in the dosa, there was no corrective action or apology.
Ambiance: The overall ambiance was unimpressive and did not feel welcoming. Cleanliness and upkeep seemed to be a low priority for this branch.
Overall, this branch falls far below the standard expected of a 22nd Parallel restaurant. The lack of basic hygiene, poor food quality, and excessive charges make it a place I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Highly disappointed and will not be visiting this...

I had high expectations for 22nd Parallel in Vadodara, having heard good things about their food from one of my relative Niraj Vats ( the person who made the booking). However, my recent visit left me quite disappointed—not because of the food, but due to the poor handling of reservations.
We had pre-booked a table, hoping to avoid the usual waiting hassles, especially since we were dining with family. To our surprise, even after arriving on time, we were made to wait for over 30 minutes before being seated. There was no clear communication, no apology, and certainly no sense of urgency from the staff.
What’s the point of taking reservations if guests are going to be treated like walk-ins? This kind of disorganization reflects poorly on the restaurant’s commitment to customer experience.
While the food might be decent, poor service and mismanagement overshadow the entire dining experience. I sincerely hope the management addresses this issue, because it’s frustrating to plan ahead and still be left waiting without explanation.
Not likely to return anytime soon and not recommended if other...
Read moreThis place is far from Authentic South Indian food.
I ordered Neer Dosa, Ghee Roast butter Masada Dosa, Onion Pakoda and Filter coffee.
Neer Dosa- The Dosas were too dry. Could have been more supple.
Ghee Roast Masala Dosa- They will cut the Dosa in 4 pieces and provide you. This itself is a big turn off. Next, the Dosa is overly stuffed with Masala. This is the farthest thing to what an actual Masala Dosa looks like.
Onion Pakoda- Reeked of oil smell. They took 40 mins to bring this out and still it was cold. Did not have the courage to complete this.
Filter Coffee- The only thing that remotely resembles South India Cusine was the Filter coffee. Surprisingly They took almost 25 mins to bring the Filter coffee after reminding them thrice.
When it comes to Ambience again this place is a hard pass. You have people singing Happy Birthday at the top of their voice. Even fellow waiters were fed up(one of them attributed the delay in Filter coffee due to the ruckus created by this Birthday group)
It will be a hard pass for me. This place is pretending to be a South Indian Restaurant but does not want to leave it ...
