The ambience of the place was good. The kolam patterns on table and wall panelling was something that I liked the most...
Now comes the food part... I am basically a fan of South Indian food and it is not limited to idli, dosa and uttapam... And a good sambhar and chutney is what I relish... Have never traveled down south and so as per my Gujarati experience of South Indian food...
The masala in masala dosa had tomatoes in it... The coconut uttapam that I ordered did not have prominent flavour of coconut... I don't know where it was... And it seemed like I had ordered diet food... No sign of oil anywhere... You don't like oily food but everything should have each ingredient in required quantity... Absence of oil and less salt (as per my taste) and even absence of coconut for that matter made the uttapam tasteless... One thing I look fwd to in South Indian meal is sambhar and I relish it be it from a road side guy or of a nice restaurant... But sorry to say their sambhar too was not very interesting / tasty.... There were two kinds of chutneys one coconut chutney and the other tomato chutney both were ok ok neither bad nor anything great about them...
Was still hungry and first had decided to order bisibelle rice but as did not enjoy what we had in the first place so decided to leave from there and go for dessert at some place else...
I wouldn't say worst south Indian food till date... But honestly, it did not create any good impact... There is no reason which would make me go there again...
Since almost two years had heard many great things about this place from various set of people... But unfortunately, my experience was a big...

The ragi masala dosa was very good, but had a lot of butter / oil. I was literally blotting it out with tissue paper and it kept coming! Dosa is an inherently healthy dish made from fermented batter, adding such high amount of butter/oil just nullifies or rather negates the nutritious value of the dish. Plus ragi dosa is supposed to be healthy first. This is my opinion. Taste-wise was good.
The coconut chutney was good and simple like it's supposed to be. Simplicity is a big thing in south indian cuisine and keeping it simple is what elevates its natural flavours. The Tomato chutney was good, the onion (was it?) chutney however was a bit too spicy.
The sambar was good, can be better though.
The filter coffee was good , they made it without sugar as per my order, and served in the traditional cup and tumbler, full points for that!
The Puli sevai can be better. The sevai should be thinner and the puli mix can taste better.
The decor includes some very traditional kolam designs all along the sides of the seating , the table and the walls. And temple designs too.
That said, would not mind visiting here...
Read moreI have been going here since the time it opened, have even gone with my family a lot of times, on my last visit, its was about 5pm on a weekday and the occupancy was barely 10%, i sat on a usual table, the staff comes and asks me to move elsewhere as this table seats 4, like most of their tables, where i have sat and eaten for years, i got up and showed him the large number of empty tables suggesting that i wont take up his precious spaveand have him loose business, but he was adamant that i must sit near the door where they have a small table, i even went to the main cash counter hoping a senior staff will adress the matter but everyone was firm, i cannot sit on the table of 4 in a 90% empty restaurant because they said so, i even asked for the number of Mr.Hemul, owner, was has been extremely polite in his one interaction with me, no recorse, they decided to loose my business forever rather than be flexible on a silly matter, through the entire ordeal i maintained a calm decorum, but i guess those empty table for clients who will come after a few hours is more precious to them....
