Sasuji Dining Hall, Ahmedabad We visited Sasuji Dining Hall on a Sunday evening for dinner, expecting a satisfying Gujarati thali experience. However, the visit turned out to be quite underwhelming.
Food & Taste
The food was just okay—nothing special or memorable. The thali had the usual dishes but lacked any standout flavors or exciting variety. With so many amazing restaurants serving delicious Gujarati food in Ahmedabad, Sasuji now feels outdated and unimpressive.
Ambience & Experience
The restaurant has been around for a long time, but its ambience is dull and uninviting. Despite it being a Sunday evening, the place was nearly empty, with only two occupied tables. The lack of crowd itself was a sign that it's not as popular as it used to be.
Hygiene Issues
The worst part of our visit was finding a live insect in our plate. We immediately informed the manager, and while he did replace the entire plate, this incident left a bad impression regarding their hygiene standards.
Price & Value for Money
At ₹390 per person, the thali felt overpriced given the mediocre food, dull atmosphere, and hygiene concerns. There are far better options in Ahmedabad at the same or even lower price.
Final Verdict
I wouldn’t visit Sasuji Dining Hall again. The food is boring, the ambience is gloomy, and the hygiene issue was a deal-breaker. If you're looking for authentic and delicious Gujarati thali, there are much better restaurants in the city that offer a far...

This is the only expression i can imagine after eating here
Best place for Gujarati thal in Ahmedabad on CG road.
The only issue I found for parking for my 4 wheeler. Rest all good
Brilliant staff, excellent food and reasonable of you consider the area. Anyone wants to try authentic Gujarati food then this is one of the best gujrati restaurants. 2nd floor and lift is also available for those in need. Good waiting area if there's a waiting. All day you will have a different sweets and veggies. So check the menu and go to eat your favourite dish. When you go in summer then you can expect one of the traditional sweet that we get in all Gujjus home that is Mango shake. Me and my family always go for it or else for Basundi which is one of the best quality Basundi you get here.
One more thing I want to highlight that there are multiple authentic Gujarati restaurant with fixed dishes available but you won't get similar quality than this restaurant for sure. Must try for once in life if you visit Ahmedabad and want to try Gujarati Cuisine.
So go ahead and try ..... Need to work on parking area though... Very...
Read moreWe went there for lunch. It was waiting on a normal weekday. The place is very famous and has A great location. After 20 mins we got our turn. We went to the top most floor. It was spacious. The best thing was there were 3 of us me, my wife n my daughter. We were given a entire table of 4, unlike other places where they try to squeeze u into 2 seat or half a table. Another good thing is after taking the seat they don't hurry up like other thali places. You can spend good amount of time. One more good thing is it was very much kid friendly. They helped us a lot to make my daughter comfortable and enjoy her food. They also were kind enough to allow us to take some rice with ghee for kid while leaving the place. Now the taste of vegetables were having higher garlic taste which was making it weird. The farsaan i guess was over and refill took much time to serve. Daal came pretty much late and I can't imagine my thali complete without Daal. There was not a single item which can make me go again there. However their service and kid friendliness was eye catching! May be I will visit one more time to see...
