I believe that every city in India has its own local, home-grown drinks brand. A brand that innovated with flavors, colors, and local sensibilities to produce products that are loved by the masses and classes alike. Mostly their products include milk-based drinks which also promote healthy living and drinking. A brand which is synonymous with quality and largesse in terms of the quintessential desi-taste and quantity respectively. Case in point -- there's the immemorial Mastani -- by Sujata Mastani House in Pune -- a drink named after the wife of Peshwa Bajirao; Dhoodh Cold Drink by Solanki Cold Drinks in Kolhapur; the thick Lassi in Sindhu in Khar (W). The list goes on...

Girish Cold Drinks is yet another local brand that is innovating to garner rich accolades from the food-loving people of Ahmedabad. One fine day, I finally decided to check-out the hype myself, and boy I was blown to smithereens. Girish Cold Drinks had one too many drinks to choose from. So I applied my formula -- "when I doubt, ask the owner himself".

The owner suggested us to have their specialty the Kaju-Anjeer drink. The drink was unlike anything I have had before. It was thick and rich with pieces of finely grated kaju and anjeer playing hide-seek with each other around your tongue while you sip. Sit down, relax, and leave everything aside including your mobile and enjoy this drink. And remember, it's wholesome so you might just want to have it after...

Girish Cold Drinks, C.G. Road!

This place is famous for serving varities of shakes in the city of Ahmedabad. There is space outside for you to sit outside the shop and enjoy your drink. These includes Milkshakes, Fruit shakes, Faluda, Cream Salad, Cold coco and a few more. This shop is one of the oldest and successful shops on a busy and marketed CG Road.

I tried their Chocolate milkshake. The consistency is thick and flavours are bang. I am a milk lover and love each and every food items produced from it, whether it is sweets or shakes. I loved the milkshake and quantity provided was equally good. I found the price a little high, but the quality is upto my satisfaction.

Try this place out if you haven't yet. Nice place and good combination of flavours makes a perfect outing for you...
