A newly opened two storey restaurant with dining on the first floor welcomed us with an non-functional lift, which was quite unexpected .The ambience ,specifically the decor was upscale and vibes were superb.Coming to other aspects ,not providing us with a napkin was another unusual part of standard table setting of a fine diner .Since it was the franchise of one of highly rated restaurants of Ahmedabad ,we asked the server to suggest their popular dishes.Based on his recommendation we ordered Paneer Afghani topped with crankling spinach .The dish was tomato based and the gravy was tangy ,more like a kathiyawadi gravy , rather than a balanced one .The serving was sufficient for 2 and butter roti was decent. The service was good but the waitress were clueless couple of times,as if they werenât given proper training.Overall i would rate it an average dining experience ,as they need to work on food taste specifically the indian cuisine and hospitality too. They restaurant needs to upgrade itself to align with its self proclaimed fine dine category..my two cents on new restaurants coming up every other day in the ever expanding city-plz make improvements in food quality and hygiene rather than working on ambience and hospitality only.i know this is an phase where all SERVICES have evolved into EXPERIENCES like watching a movie, going to a salon , going to a hospital toođđ,but, dont forget...
Read moreMy visit to House of Makeba today was absolutely outstanding and easily deserves a full five stars! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, but it was the combination of truly excellent food and top-tier service that made the experience unforgettable.
The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with incredible flavorâevery dish felt perfectly prepared. It's clear that the kitchen here takes immense pride in their craft.
However, the real highlight of our meal was the exceptional service provided by JASHAN. She was incredibly professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly. She anticipated our needs without being intrusive and made us feel completely looked after from start to finish. It's rare to encounter such dedicated and high-quality service, and JASHAN is a massive asset to the House of Makeba team.

Read moreWe came to Makeba expecting a fine-dine experience based on the pricing and ambience, but it turned out to be nothing close. Right from the start, the staff was inattentive and barely responsive. No sense of hospitality or professionalism â just a cold, robotic attitude.
We started with a soup that, to be fair, was the only highlight of the evening. It was well-balanced and flavorful. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there.
The main course was a complete disaster â bland, poorly presented, and shockingly below average for the kind of prices they charge. Honestly, even a basic cafe serves better food at half the cost.
Whatâs most frustrating is the mismatch between the pricing and the experience. You expect finesse, flavour, and service when youâre paying fine-dine rates. What you get instead is mediocrity on a fancy plate.
Not returning anytime soon. There are far better places in the city that know how to match their hype with...
