Disappointing Experience at Moti Mahal Delux, Dharamshala

I recently visited the Moti Mahal Delux restaurant in Dharamshala, expecting the same high standards as their other locations. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown.

The staff and ambience were satisfactory, but the food and management fell short. The prices of their delicacies were comparable to 4-5 star hotels, which was surprising for a restaurant in Dharamshala.

However, the attitude of the manager, Navjeet, was disappointing. He was neither polite nor cooperative, which added to our frustration. He him self said its not dum biryani, its just assembled and .... at the last.... then don't eat it arrigantly. That was so foolish from his own side. Believe me, i was indicating a mistake from Kitchen side but his overall attitude made it from Motimahal side. Lateron he went ahead and bring a bill. Full bill paid by us. Thats not a big deal, big deal is that we ruined our lunch in such a big brand like Moti Mahal. Believe me or not.l, road side Rs 20 Biryani tastes better then that.

The biggest letdown was the food itself. We ordered the Biryani, which was made with cheap Sela rice that was hard to chew. This was a shock from a brand like Moti Mahal Delux, which is known for its quality.

Overall, our experience was subpar, especially considering the high prices. Moti Mahal Delux needs to work on their food quality and management's attitude to live up to their reputation.

Recommendation: Improve food quality, especially the rice used in Biryani, and work on the manager's attitude to provide better customer service.

We ordered Paneer Tikka and Dhania Tamatar shorba and the food tasted good.

Being in the mountains, which is the source of the best “mineral water”, I don’t want to generate plastic trash and contribute to carbon footprint by consuming packaged bottled water, which is transported from a distance. However, when I asked for regular water, I got a rather hostile behavior from the staff and they didn’t care about a refill.

The table I sat on wobbling and it was surprising as the prices of the restaurant do not match its standard.

Besides, it’s ok to levy service charge but then your service has to be at that level, at least better than places that don’t levy a service charge. Unfortunately, the service here is average. Had to ask for serving the food Had to ask for water refill Had to ask for the bill copy as the waiter chose to keep the bill after payment.

Lastly, please come up with a different way of justifying the 40 Rupees for “mineral water”, I’m don’t understand what’s the amenity in it. And it’s not even mineral water, you are serving Aquafina packaged...
