Restaurant Review: Sanji’s Milky Way – A Hidden Gem in the Hills of Dharamkot
Nestled in the serene village of Dharamkot, a peaceful haven that buzzes gently with global backpackers and yoga seekers, Sanji’s Milky Way is more than just a restaurant — it’s a feeling. A culinary retreat where you start your day not just with food, but with a sense of calm and community.
During our stay in Dharamkot, every single breakfast was at Sanji’s. And honestly, nothing else came close. The warm and welcoming vibe is matched only by the depth of flavor in every dish. Sanjiv and his brothers, who have lovingly run this place for over 15 years, bring a personal touch that sets this spot apart from the typical tourist cafes.
The menu is a delightful fusion of cultures — Indian, Italian, Tibetan, and Israeli — yet everything feels authentic and thoughtfully prepared. From fluffy shakshuka and hand-rolled pasta to wholesome thalis and steaming momos, each bite is a testament to slow cooking and fresh, clean ingredients. You’ll especially appreciate how Sanji will tailor any dish to your preferences. Vegan? Gluten-free? Extra spice? No spice? No problem.
What truly elevates the experience is the organic approach, the unhurried pace, and the quiet charm that only the mountains can teach. Food here isn’t rushed — it’s cooked with the love and calmness of the hills, and it shows in every plate.
Whether you’re in Dharamkot for a weekend escape or a month-long soul-searching journey, Sanji’s Milky Way is a must-visit. Come hungry, leave nourished — body,...
Read moreI stayed at Milky Way Cafe and Hotel for five days, and it truly felt like home. The place offers a calm and relaxed atmosphere, making it a perfect retreat in Dharamkot. The cafe is conveniently located right at the entrance, and I found it to be one of the best in the area. As a motorcycle traveler, I really appreciated the ample parking space they provide—something not every place in the hills offers. But what truly sets this place apart is the warmth of the owners. They treated me like a brother, making my stay even more special. I tried more than ten dishes, and each one was perfectly prepared. The flavors, presentation, and overall quality were top-notch. Whether you're looking for a peaceful stay or great food, Milky Way Cafe and Hotel is a fantastic choice in Dharamkot. Highly...
Read moreSanji's Milky way was my home for the 10 days and during this period, the brothers who run this place took good care of me. They have about 8 - 10 rooms which are extremely spacious and face the mountains directly. Waking up everyday morning to the direct sunlight and doing yoga in their spacious balcony was nice. The cafe is just downstairs. They serve variety of food though I stuck to mainly Indian cuisine. They have solar system due to which you get hot water 24 hours - a major requirement when the temperatures are 5 degrees in the nights !! I would highly recommend people to stay here while visiting Dharamkot. The trekking route to Gallu, Triund start from here. Also, it is an easy walk...
