Vairagi cafe has a vibe just like its name. The cafe is frequented by tourists and locals both. Would not recommend children under 15 years in this cafe. There is indoor seating, outdoor seating and a separate enclosed group area seating. Coming to the food, the continental and Chinese menu are of standard quality. The portions are huge and that is definitely a worry for me as I don't like wasting food, but ended up wasting a lot here. Breakfast is good, probably the best meal here. Would recommend anybody ordering sandwiches or burgers or rolls to ask what they put inside. I ordered a veg sandwich and got coleslaw inside, which is sad because it is not so hard to just cut veggies and make vegetable sandwich. The coffee is genius, they'll make it just the way you want it. One thing I absolutely loved here was the bakery, with freshly baked desserts everyday. The chocolate nut cake was a favorite, followed closely by cheesecake and brownie. Vairagi is.perfect for groups of friends, solo travellers, dates or anybody without children basically. It has some good spots for pictures, and is decorated by quotes and random wall hangings. The overall vibe here is fun, noisy and quite often you'll find somebody play the guitar, as it's available for everyone to play. They also keep a chess board for all to use and I think that's really cool. Basically go here to make new friends and bump into the ones you already know, because they just might be getting some cheesecake or playing a...
Read moreRakesh(owner) is among one of those people who would restore your faith in humanity. I happened to reach at the cafe and was feeling a bit nauseous after paragliding, he asked me if I was okay, offered medicine and helped me with my backpack. Upon saying that I was in Bir for only a day, and half of it was already over and I was a bit hesitant about renting a bike, rakesh offered me his activa against no documents and said 'kya leke aaye hain aur kya leke jaenge, bas achhe se bol do aapas me sir'. It moves people! One thing that I loved to the core was his empathy and generosity.
Coming to food, I had veg cheese grill sandwich, which upon request was grilled enough to make the bread crispy. I asked for vegetable maggi and ginger tea. To my surprise, everything was great and prepared with love. My journey wasn't over here upon having the food and exploring bir on Rakesh's bike, I went back and said that I was feeling a bit hungry. He was eating dal-rice in a bowl and immediately asked the chef to serve me the same. It was delicious! He didn't even charge money for the last dal-rice bowl I had(I tried to give but he refused)
Rakesh influenced me to the core, how can I not write in detail about him and his...
