Read moreMakau has recently opened up at Jubilee Hills and serves cuisines from across geographies. The place is picturesque with beautiful textured walls and an ambience that makes you spends hours in the place without keeping a track of time. I was invited here for a food tasting.
The Burmese Parcel has a thick and crunchy covering which was filled with creamy cottage cheese filling. Bhatti da Murg is a spicy Punjabi appetiser where the chicken was cooked to tenderness. The Mutton Shikhampuri was marinated with spices and quite soft and flavourful. For those who like their salad the Watermelon Feta Salad is a fresh salad served with rocket leaves and vinaigrette. One of their must have appetisers are the Makau Fried Chicken Basket which are quite light and crunchy. For folks who prefer to savour local delicacies should definitely try the Kodi Vepudu which is prepared in Telangana style.
One of my favourite appetisers has to be the Spanish Garlic Prawns. These are cooked in garlic infused olive oil which has smoky hints of paprika and a touch of sweetness. The Spicy Basil Chicken Dim-sums are a Chef’s special and have a translucent thin covering within which is wrapped a meaty chicken basil filling. The Philadelphia Roll had a center created with crab sticks and cucumbers which was wrapped in sticky rice and seaweed and then topped with tuna and salmon. The California roll has a center of crab sticks and avocado covered with seafood, sticky rice topped with salmon eggs.
The Alfredo Chicken Pasta was quite creamy. The Spaghetti Aglio E Olio was quite light, cooked in olive oil and topped with paprika and cheese. The Nasty Chicken Peri Peri Pizza had a thin base but lacked flavours. The Thai Green Curry was packed with flavours of basil, lemongrass and coconut milk. The Grilled Salmon was overcooked and didn’t retain its original taste which can definitely be improved. The Spicy Red Ramen Chicken had smooth ramen noodles served in a spicy gravy with vegetables and boiled eggs.
For desserts the Lava Lava Surprise has a chocolate lava cake topped with mint and cherry. The Long Lasting Vertigo is a decadent layered chocolate cake. The best part for me though was the cream cheese cake which is soft and delicious and so good that you just can’t...
