‘Makau - Bar & Restaurant’ inspires an upscale dining experience amidst lush greenery, serene cafe setting that serves crafted cocktails and signature dishes from across the globe. Enjoy tranquility amidst the chaos in the city, right here at Makau.

We were invited for a blogger’s table and the review for the restaurant is as follows.

Appetisers:

The ‘Watermelon Feta Salad’ had Sweet and juicy watermelon, salty feta, and a refreshing minty citrusy dressing. The ‘Burmese Parcel Roll’ had thin crispy pockets filled with gooey cheese and oriental salted veggies served with Sichuan sauce and sliced veggies. The ‘Bhatti da Murg’ is a panjabi snack made with boneless chicken chunks marinated in hung cure with roasted onion paste and a melange of spices. The ‘Mutton Shikampuri’ is an exotic kebab made from shredded pieces from muttons leg, served alongside coriander-mint chutney and pickled onions. The ‘Makau Fried Chicken’ had a crunchy texture on the outside and.a juicy fiery chicken inside, served with chipotle sauce makes its a must order. The ‘Kodi Vepudu’ is one of the most unique and spicy chicken fry from the Andhra heartland, best had with lime juice sprinkled over the dish. The ‘Spanish Prawns’ was a perfect tapas dish which contained pink, delicious prawns fried in a glossy garlic olive oil served with crunchy garlic bread.

Sushi & Dim-sums:

The ‘ Rainbow Uramaki’ was an appetising sushi roll that flavours of tuna, salmon and avocado. The colourful, elegant sushi roll will surely delight your taste buds. The ‘Spicy Basil Chicken’ dim-sums were mildly spicy, herbaceous and served with fresh herb basil, soya and chilli sauce. The ‘California Sushi Rolls’ is a makizushi sushi roll that had cucumber, avocado and tuna, perfect for the fusion enthusiast.

Main Course:

The ‘Chicken Alfredo Pasta’ was rich and creamy with al dente penne pasta tossed in rich parmesan cheese is another mighty dish to be tried here. The ‘Spaghetti agile e olio’ is another classic pasta from Naples that had spaghetti tossed in olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic. The ‘Thai Green Curry’ was rich and vibrant, contained kafir lime, basil, lemon grass chillies, shallots and galangal which went well with the sticky jasmine rice and prawn cracker served alongside. Both ‘Spicy Red Ramen’ and ‘Smoked chicken Ramen’ had the signature hot Mizo sauce, fresh shallots, chicken breasts, spiced broccoli, green beans, broccoli, eggs and thick noodles in a spicy smoky broth.

Desserts:

The ‘Lava Lava Surprise’ is a chocolate soufflé with molten chocolate lave inside, hard on the outside and soft inside, the perfect desert for the hearty soul. The ‘Cream Cheese Cake’ is a no bake cream cheese block over the perfect graham cracker and must not be missed here. The ‘Long Lasting Vertigo’ has layers of decadent chocolate cake, based with love just to ruin your diet.

Recommendations:

Watermelon Feta Salad, Burmese Parcel Roll, Bhatti da Murg, Spanish Prawns, Makau Fried Chicken, Rainbow Uramaki, Spicy Basil Chicken Dim-sum,California Sushi Rolls, Spaghetti agile e olio,Thai Green Curry with Jasmine rice, Spicy Red Ramen, Cream Cheese Cake,Lava...

Makau has recently opened up at Jubilee Hills and serves cuisines from across geographies. The place is picturesque with beautiful textured walls and an ambience that makes you spends hours in the place without keeping a track of time. I was invited here for a food tasting.

The Burmese Parcel has a thick and crunchy covering which was filled with creamy cottage cheese filling. Bhatti da Murg is a spicy Punjabi appetiser where the chicken was cooked to tenderness. The Mutton Shikhampuri was marinated with spices and quite soft and flavourful. For those who like their salad the Watermelon Feta Salad is a fresh salad served with rocket leaves and vinaigrette. One of their must have appetisers are the Makau Fried Chicken Basket which are quite light and crunchy. For folks who prefer to savour local delicacies should definitely try the Kodi Vepudu which is prepared in Telangana style.

One of my favourite appetisers has to be the Spanish Garlic Prawns. These are cooked in garlic infused olive oil which has smoky hints of paprika and a touch of sweetness. The Spicy Basil Chicken Dim-sums are a Chef’s special and have a translucent thin covering within which is wrapped a meaty chicken basil filling. The Philadelphia Roll had a center created with crab sticks and cucumbers which was wrapped in sticky rice and seaweed and then topped with tuna and salmon. The California roll has a center of crab sticks and avocado covered with seafood, sticky rice topped with salmon eggs.

The Alfredo Chicken Pasta was quite creamy. The Spaghetti Aglio E Olio was quite light, cooked in olive oil and topped with paprika and cheese. The Nasty Chicken Peri Peri Pizza had a thin base but lacked flavours. The Thai Green Curry was packed with flavours of basil, lemongrass and coconut milk. The Grilled Salmon was overcooked and didn’t retain its original taste which can definitely be improved. The Spicy Red Ramen Chicken had smooth ramen noodles served in a spicy gravy with vegetables and boiled eggs.

For desserts the Lava Lava Surprise has a chocolate lava cake topped with mint and cherry. The Long Lasting Vertigo is a decadent layered chocolate cake. The best part for me though was the cream cheese cake which is soft and delicious and so good that you just can’t...
