Eggs, bacon, and French toast have never been better — sounds familiar? When we talk about the required meals for our bodies, breakfast is considered to be a familiar part of the daily routine that we assume it's something people have always enjoyed. By the dawn of the 1920's, Dr Kellogg had sold the world on an iconic belief stating Breakfast is the most important meal of the day — at least when it comes to your health. However the concept of having an early nutritious meal during the day dates back to the Medieval times of Europe, wherein the labours going to work had to eat early, or for the elderly and infirm. However, Ian Mortimer, a historian had another take which states that breaking fast with a meal was invented in the 16th century as an offspring for the influx of high employment. With a higher amount of folks coming to work & long working hours affected their productivity, a big breakfast allowed them to work longer days. The Industrial Revolution and the move from farms to factories formalized the idea of breakfast further, and now it's normal for everyone to eat breakfast before going to work. Moreover, mankind’s early breakfasts were not sweet. However, in the most recent 500 years, an entire civilization has become impassioned and addicted to a sweet taste as part of this meal. Today’s breakfast menus are just as likely to include items that are sweet, savoury or even both, and they are increasingly likely to include ingredients or dishes sourced from around the globe. Fun, funky and open six days a week from 8 a.m to 8:30 p.m, The Hole in the Wall cafe is a popular breakfast spot in Jubilee Hills locality aimed at locals & tourist alike. This elevated cafe, situated on the Road No. 45, boasts some great indoors embedded with Wall arts, shelves full of books and board games, however, the outdoor seating is something to look forward to, from swings to french-style windows popping out on a wall accompanied by boulders and some exquisite wooden seating space. Let's talk about the food - for the vegetarians, do try out Beans-on-a-cake & mushroom onion cheesy fries as both of them are really good; creamy baked beans coated in sauce paired up with crispy patties stuffed with seasoned mashed potato & corn served along with toast. Also, we tried out Mr Hole's Eggless breakfast consisting of hash browns, baked beans, grilled tomato with spinach, mashed potato served with toast slices making it a complete platter. For the meat lovers, the meaty Pizza Omelette, chicken Nest burger & Awesome Sausage sandwich can surely fill your tummies; onto the burger which had a chicken and egg patty with coleslaw topped with BBQ sauce, a good affair in total. Even the Penne Pasta was enrobed in a creamy white sauce with soft and tasty penne pasta, a good choice for the pasta lovers. Lastly, to wind up we got Triple chocolate pancake, Santa Waffles & their standard pancakes; Santa waffles really needs to be improvised on the filling as it could have been blueberry flavour or something lighter to the palate, but its come with a good presentation so you’ve got to click it for the ‘gram, but the Triple chocolate Pancake surely was an instant hit, chocolate all way through from the first to the last morsel. And as Adelle Davis puts it, "Eat Breakfast like a King", Hole in the Wall is one place which can hit upon for consuming your daily energy intake for your most important...
Read moreThere is always something fascinating about cafes and one such cafe is hole in the wall located in the busiest streets of Jubilee Hills . This cafe has reopened adopting utmost precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the pandemic and is providing a safe dining experience to customers.
As we stepped into the cafe,we were welcomed into a classic Indoor seating on the left and a stocked up book shelf with a huge collection of comics and novels and antique small cute decor on the right. Then we entered into gorgeous outdoors with well manicured French windows and swing chair sitting surrounded by greenery making it the most attractive space & adding it to one of the Picturesque cafe in town.
It is a crowd puller for its mind blowing ambience and scrumptious food. I’ve been to this cafe with a group of foodie friends of mine for a casual brunch on a sunny winter afternoon. This is the most customer friendly cafe with best service. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious breakfast specially designed for young crowd. The brilliant outdoor atmosphere is a perfect place to hang out but as it was too sunny we preferred indoors.
Mr. Hole’s eggless breakfast Are you bored of having eggs for breakfast? Then this breakfast platter is a perfect one I would suggest at this cafe which includes hash browns, mashed potatoes, beans and sorted mushrooms. The flavourful beans along with crispy and fluffy hash browns were a perfect breakfast meal anyone could wish of.
Beans on a cake This is the out of the box dish unique to this cafe. The cake here refers to spicy potato patty topped with flavourful baked beans and onions , garnished with chopped coriander. The dish was mouthwatering to look at and has terrific flavours which will leave you speechless.
Mushroom onion cheesy fries A prefect appetiser of crispy and crunchy fries with delightful topping of baked mushrooms, onions and rich gravy with taste much more subtle and mozzarella like is one of the best munching stuff you should try at this cafe.
Chicken Nest Burger This beautiful combination of crunchy & juicy chicken patty and special sauces packed between the burger buns looked awful and satisfying. It was worth the price !
Meaty omelette pizza A new concept of egg based pizza stuffed with baked chicken, slightly crusty caramelised onion ,basil and lots of cheese was something different I’ve tried at this cafe. The pizza had slightly crispy base and moist topping with strong flavour of oregano and chilli flakes.
Santa waffles The dish is named santa waffles because of the presentation in Christmas theme colours. The waffles were four dimensional, dark, puffy and too soggy. I usually prefer crispy waffles so, did not like this dish much. But would give a heads up for the beautiful presentation.
Triple chocolate pancake This one of the best triple chocolate pancake I’ve had in recent times, round ,flat , dark with chocolate sauce dripping over the fluffy pancake and good amount of Choco chip topping. Overall it’s a fantastic place to hangout...
Read moreStrictly “Okay” is all I can say. If you don’t appreciate the finer aspects of food, then you won’t mind this place. I think college kids are their prime target. We came here for breakfast 8 of us and I must say that they managed to ruin our weekend get together. For a place that claims to be a breakfast/ brunch place they don’t serve an Eggs Benedict, that should have been a red flag. Basically the kitchen is run by some young boys with no formal catering/ hotel education. Asked for a simple scrambled eggs, the eggs were fine actually but the salt and pepper wouldn’t come out of the shakers. Another tell tale sign that the place is not serious about food or that no one involved with formal food training is involved with this restaurant was the fact that the salt was in the pepper shaker and the pepper was in the salt shaker. Just to throw a curve ball I asked them for a espresso macchiato, as expected the waiter was hearing the name for the first time. They burnt my pork sausage and served me a dry chewy mess with all the good fat from the sausage oozed out. I am sure the cook had no idea what constitutes a sausage. Owners/ chef If you are reading, a sausage is 25% fat. If all the fat oozes out with your cooking then it’s just dry cardboard. Also another bit of cheating at this place is that there are no printed menus, you’ve to order from an app for what they charge it’s absolutely appalling that they don’t have printed menu cards. Basically it’s a nice looking place (ambience) with a good outdoor space, if just lounging around with a mediocre cup of coffee and toast is your intention then maybe you can visit. In all, like mentioned earlier, if you are serious about food and your breakfast...
