Visited Vapour for a weekday dinner. The sheer size of the place is what hits you first. Spread over 3 levels, this brew pub is one of our top picks in the city. The indoor ground and first floors have more of a usual bar/pub seating scene whereas the open air second floor is for the hard-party folks who like to shake a leg. The ambiance is modern and classy.
We started with a sampler set of their in house brews. Our top pick was the wheat. The apple cider could have been a little more mellow on the sweetness.
A few mocktails also made their mark and the mango queen and virgin mojito stood out.
Food for the most part was great.
Ghee roast chicken - succulent pieces of chicken marinated in south Indian style masalas and fried in clarified butter, this dish was a super start to our dinner.
Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wings - Another great dish, this one was fried to perfection and topped with the right amount if sauce. Sure to leave you finer-licking!
Tandoori and Steamed Veg Dimsums - Both the dimsums had adequate amount of filling and the dumpling wrapper was thin and light. The tandoori ones had a nice achaari flavour. The sauce served with the steamed ones was delightful!
Corn Cheese Bites - Another dish to relish for the herbivores. This simple cheese and corn stuffed morsels were crumb coated and fried to super perfection. Perfect to pair along with a chilled beer!
Mushroom Duplex - Apparently their best vegetarian starter, this one couldn't impress us. The mushrooms were too soft and there just wasn't enough cheese. We couldn't see the VFM factor in it as well. Priced at Rs. 319/-, just 4 pieces of mushroom seemed pretty expensive to us. Passable.
Chicken 65 - The Hyderabadi classic for some reason was presented in a bamboo steamer! It had a good tang but somehow missed that oomph factor (only true Hyderabadis know what we're talking about :P).
Tandoori Pomfret - Presented wonderfully, this whole fish was decent. It had a very strong mustard flavor. Good for folks who have a thing for spice!
Chicken Caesar Salad - Fresh and crunchy with ample chicken, this salad was delicious. Could have been better with a few more croutons.
Penne Aglio Oglio - Lacked the quintessential garlic and chilli flakes flavor. The pasta was cooked well though.
Oriental Chicken Pizza and Paprika Pizza - Both the pizzas were below average. Lacked flavor and crispness. Skip!
Kheema Pav - Star dish of the night! One dish that we would go back for, the kheema was perfectly spiced and had the perfect bite to it. Served along with some soft buttery mini pavs, this dish is a BOMB! MUST TRY!
Kodi Pulav - A basic home style pulav with generous chunks of chicken. Low on spice, this one's good for everyone! They could improve on the flavor of the chicken though. We found it a tad bland.
Grilled Fish - Huge fillets of fish served on a bed of butter tossed veggies with a side of mashed potatoes. The fish was a little hard and we somehow couldn't wrap our heads around the flavor of the marinade. Decent attempt.
Veg Nasi Goreng - This was almost a joke. An Indian spicy version of friend rice, this 'Nasi Goreng' almost tasted like a spicy road-side Chinese eatery's fried rice. Stay away. Remember, this is for the veg version.
We had 3 desserts and all of them were outstanding!
White Chocolate Brownie - Super rich dense white chocolate 'brownie' topped with melted white chocolate. Perfectly sweet! MUST TRY!
Blueberry Cheesecake - Topped with a generous helping of blueberry compote, this airy cheesecake had all the perfect flavors. The base could have been a little more crunchy to bring in the necessary texture change.
Mud Cake - Rich, dark, dense and moist chocolate cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this dish is a must try for all the dark chocolate lovers!
Overall, with a few misses, Vapour does a great job. Food and drinks are excellent, service and ambiance are great. Special mention to Mr. Deb for attending to us...
Read moreThis pub was previously named vapour and presently 36 down town is one of the trending pubs in Hyderabad. I’ve been to this place at evening time with a group of foodie friends.
This a three storied pub with indoor ,outdoor and rooftop seating. The rooftop seating is highly recommended as it is a perfect place to chill with friends having beer. This brewery has amazing beers ,out of which the apple cedar is the best one. This place has amazing music which makes you swing to its beat. The staff here are friendly and courteous.
My start of the meal at this place was fantastic. The green apple infusion: The flavour of this mocktail will leave your taste buds impressed. The slight flavour of mint was refreshing enough.
Lovers club: This amazing cocktail had a egg white in it. I personally don’t like the flavour of raw egg white so avoided this drink.
Virgin mojito and mango green mocktail were the other two drinks we had. Both of them were refreshing and had good taste.
Paneer majestic: This lip smacking dish is a must try at this place. It had a perfect blend of flavours.
Chicken satay with peanut butter sauce: With the amazing flavour of creamy peanut sauce the chicken satay were tender, juicy and full of flavour. It was an amazing dish.
Down town fries: This a forever cravable snack food for almost everyone. This crispy fries were a perfect munching stuff with drinks.
Mushroom duplex: This stuffed mushroom dish is a perfect one with the drinks. It had exotic flavour.
Paneer tikka kebab: This spicy Indian appetiser had a great taste . The paneer was soft and flavourful.
Murgh Reshmi kebab: This was amouth watering dish and was delicious in taste.
Chilli garlic tempura prawns: This dish was a pack of flavour. It was hot ,spicy and had tempting aroma.
Palak patta chaat: This is a spinach coated with batter and deep fried. They were crispy and had a delightful taste.
Loaded nachos: Nothing can be more satisfying than a tray loaded with nachos. A good munching dish.
Chicken 65: This dish just tasted like Indian spicy chicken garnished with curry leaves. It was spicy and great.
Non-veg oriental pizza and paprika veg pizza: Both the pizzas had good texture and flavour. The delicious topping and the crust was amazing.
Mutton roganjosh: The gravy had a perfect blend of flavours. It was served with butter naan. This was a good dish.
Grilled chicken steak: The chicken was perfectly cooked ,moist and had a great flavour.
Greek salad: The Greek salad had cucumber, onion ,tomatoes tossed with cheese. The pepper add on made it even more flavourful.
Caesar salad: This was a fresh creamy salad. It had a burst of flavour at every bite.
Palak paneer: This dish was served with butter naan and dal makani. The paneer was soft and overall the dish tasted amazing with butter naan.
Keema pav: The keema dish was flavourful and tasted amazing with pav.
Chaufa fried rice: This dish tasted just like a random Chinese fried rice packed in omelette. Nothing new just the regular fried rice.
Deserts: Blueberry cheese cake: The cheese cake has always been my favourite desert. The tangy flavour of blueberry was fantastic and this is one of the best desert at this place.
White chocolate brownie: This was a delightful desert with great flavour and aroma. The white chocolate dripping over the brownie was very tempting and tasted the best.
Pineapple panna cotta: Last but not the least ,this classic dish with fresh pineapple add on had a fresh punch to the desert. Do visit this...
Read moreIt's raining microbreweries in hyderabad. Week after week, we see a new one open it's doors.
Was looking to try out a new place and had Vapour on the radar for a while - had heard really good reviews about it from friends so thought of trying it out ( for lunch ).
It's located on Rd. No 36, just beside brand factory ( inside lane ) with ample parking space.
The entrance is beautiful with plants all around and there is something peaceful about the place during afternoons ( complimented by the lovely hyderabad weather these days ).
The first thing that hits you as you enter the pub is how huge it is. It's spread over 3 floors - the 3rd one being the rooftop.
We sat on the first floor and found the place to be designed quite well. Whoever did the interiors did a fine job :)
Started with the brew samplers - cider, american lager, wheat... Loved the apple cider and wheat beers. I think they are a safe bet and almost everyone seems to like them.
We had a lot of starters and we definitely want to highlight the fact that this place presents “authentic” Indian food in an unconventional style. Definitely a place one should experience.
It's a brewery/lounge so as to say but it could very well compete with some of the fine dining places in hyderabad when it comes to food. The experimentation and passion shown by the chef while curating every dish is commendable. We even met the chef ( Ramesh ) and instantly bonded over our Delhi connection.
Tried the chicken 65 ( served uniquely in a dim sum box ), mushroom duplex, kali mirch tangri and Dahi ke sholey in our first round. Complimented them with Mango Queen & a Tangerine Mohito. Mangon Queen drink was very good.
Later also tried the Vada Pav ( absolutely delicious ), spicy baby chicken, bbq stuffed chicken ( amazing! ), galauti and thai paneer tikka ( something unique and a must try ).
What took the cake for us was the palak patta chaat. It was so yummy that I can think we went crazy telling the chef about it again and again :-)
Big shout out to Priyotosh and chef Ramesh who made this experience even better. They had full knowledge of the dishes and explained them well.
For desserts tried the white chocolate brownie - haven't seen any restaurant serving this in hyderabad so had to dig into it. And it was so so good.
All in all a great experience and definitely returning to this place again and again as the food is...
