Offlate, Dhaba styled restaurants is gripping the pulse of the foodies; owing to the busy lifes and lazy enough to travel outskirts to enjoy some Dhaba food - Dhaba themed restaurants caught attention and is in full swing. Catching the fever, came in President Dhaba in the bylanes of Madhapur (Image Gardens lane) and is sure not to disappoint you with their typical Dhaba ambience with cots under the open sky and a semi closed area for those who aren't comfortable with that style of seating.
Cuisine: Indian, Chinese
Prices: Most of the prices are within 250 with few exceptions going upto 300.
We have started with Veg dumpling , which very much resembled munchuria both in taste and looks and did justice to the taste. Veg sheekh kebab was decent with perfect texture. Both Jumka paneer tikka and sofiya paneer tikka had soft paneer cubes (unlike in few places where paneer is not soft as expected) and tasted real good. While one was on sweeter side with stuffed masala, other was mild on spices. None of the veg starters disappointed and are bang for your buck with quantity too.
Dragon chicken was juicy and moderatley spiced and was a decent dish to try. Adraki murgh tikka was better among all the non-veg starters that I have tried with luscious chicken chunks and evenly spread adraki. Kaandhari kebab, tandoori chicken had perfect texture but both of them had similar taste and tandoori chicken had overdose of masala. Chicken sheekh kebab could have been little more moist as the dryness of the dish made the experience not so great.
Achari prawns was a disappointment with prawns being very hard though flavor was decent. Boti kebab came as another disappointment as it was too chewy and could eat anymore of it.
We chose to try only veg in maincourse - veg makhanwala, kadai paneer, dal makhni, palak paneer. Palak paneer definitely reminded me of my childhood travel days which was my default order if I stop at dhaba. Dal Makhni was preared near to authentic with black lentils and predominant kidney beans in it and tasted decent. Also ordered a portion of jeera rice with dal tadka which tasted good too.
Lassi, in round one seemed to be one of the best I had till date. It was thick, creamy, right amount of sweetness (that I prefer) and delicious. However, the taste did not carry through in the later rounds of lassi that came through.
They also have Thalis, combos which are VFM if you want something pocket friendly and try more dishes.
This place has huge potential and can be trendsetter in the area owing to the theme and few dishes that we tried, given they work on few aspects that were inconsistent in taste and texture. Nevertheless, this wouldnt disappoint you either way if not impress...
Read moreOn hearing the name (president dhaba) in city one might get really excited that there is not need to travel to a highway to find authentic dhaba food. So even we were excited to visit this place. I made a reservation for a group of six as we planned to visit on a weekend. To my surprise, restaurant manager made us wait for more than 30 minutes as he couldn't manage the seating. People usually make reservations in advance to avoid waiting at restaurants, The start of this experience was a literal disaster.
Thumps up: dhaba style set up was up to the mark. Food - Crispy corn chilli pepper : was good in taste, flavour and texture. Egg burji: was okay.
Thumps down : literally , there was no car park available, everyone should park their vehicles on street side. Food - tandoori brocolli : this item was soaking in malai and they didn't even cut the stems properly. Tasted bad too. Tangdi kebab : proper masala was not added and not burnt well, just the chicken pieces were boiled and for name sake the burnt and served. Fish tikka : watery, not burnt well, masala on it was very raw. Mushroom baby corn (dragon style) : they just added red color to baby corn fry with thick flour coating which some routine Chinese sauses, taste was bad in all aspects. They even managed to mess up tandoori roti. I ordered garlic roti but they again served tandoori roti only and claimed it was garlic roti. Murg tikka masala and paneer tikka masala : quantity was less, taste was bad, gravy was yucky, I am still speech less on the taste. Veg Schezwan noodles : we are not sure if that can be called noodles, failed in every aspect. No one touched it after having a spoon full. Spl chicken biryani : boiled rice with boiled chicken, no masala, no taste and no words to describe this waste of money. After going through all the above, we still didn't loose hope, we ordered kadhu ka kheer : tasted salty and spoiled, we were shocked to find a sweet salty. Next, we ordered lassi : too much of rose water and sugar. Finally , butter milk : curd was missing, very watery. Quantity of the food is very very less and price is too too toooo high for the quality they gave. I do not recommend this place. Waste of money and time. 1 star was only...
