"High-End Asian Cuisine, Friendly and Helpful Staff, and Exquisite Ambience."
Food: We ordered Scallop Hargao with Black Truffle, Grilled Seabass, Unagi (Eel) nigiri, Tako (Octopus) Sashimi, a mocktail, Asian Era (a cocktail), and Sticky Toffee Pudding with Mango Gelato.
Scallop Hargao is just scrumptious. I would definitely recommend this dish to anyone. The sweetness and creaminess of the scallops almost tempted me to order it once again.
Octopus Sashimi: As expected from octopus, quite chewy and rubbery. Eel Nigiri was just brilliant. Sticky Toffee Pudding was satisfying and the sweetness was quite balanced.
Grilled Seabass was tender and well-cooked but probably not much different from a fillet of salmon.
Apart from this, RIKA has various noteworthy options from Lobster to Australian Lamb Chops.
They also have quite a few Japanese Teppanyaki style options. It is quite cool to watch the chef skillfully handle food and perform tricks right in front of us!
In fact, we came for their Teppanyaki Scallops but unfortunately they were not available at the time of our visit.
Service: Very friendly and helpful staff. Service time is quite quick as well.
Ambience: Grand and luxurious. Everything here screams of high-end dining.
Overall, this is a noteworthy Asian restaurant that can provide something new and exciting even for the experienced diners out there! I wish to go back here for Australian Lamb Chops and Teppanyaki Scallops.
(A request to RIKA: Please bring back Teppanyaki Scallops on the menu.)
Edit: Went here a second time and got Teppanyaki Australian Lamb Chops and Teppanyaki Scallops in Butter Garlic Sauce. We also got a smoked whiskey drink called "The...
Read moreAte at this restaurant as this was my second night here and I'd already tried the Italian Restaurant opposite--Tre Forni (which while not fantastic, wasnt considered disappointing either)
My friend and I were ushered into the Teppanyaki corner briskly and attended to in good time. However, getting our orders through did take a bit of time as there didnt seem to be enough waiters around.
I ordered a Fried Rice (with smoked bamboo shoot, green onion, and sichuan chilli oil) and a dish of Pork loin (cooked with ginger sauce, butter, scallion, garlic chops, stir fried tofu, shiitake mushrom and bok choy) to go with it.
All sounded nice on paper. Until I got the dish.
For one, the biting into the pork loin was akin to eating a piece of rock-Dry, hard and bitter. The tofu seemed coated with layer after layer of soya sauce (which interestingly enough didnt seem to penetrate the pork loin one bit), and I shuddered with the saltiness in every bite (at some point in time i gave up on it). The bok choy was limp, dry and tasted like the vegetables one gets free in the market because no one wants them.
The fried rice was edible.
Overall, while service was mediocre, the food was terrible (made worse with the price tag that could not justify it -). Definitely NOT eating there again and definitely NOT recommending it to anyone.

Read moreWe usually go to Tre-Forni for the excellent Sunday brunch but today being a weekday thought we will try Rika after a very long time. Ambience is good but the overall experience with the lunch service was quite poor. First we were given a set menu of dimsums and even when asked the hostess confirmed that it was the only option and ala carte was available for dinner. Later on saw that they were options for Teppanyaki and Sushi available as well which could be ordered.
Coming to the service, we ordered the set menu at 1.20pm and for the next hour were served about one piece of dim sum every 10 min on an average. After an hour and 5-6 dimsums we were asked if we wanted more and despite being constantly left hungry thought it’s better to order main course given their pace. The main course took another 20 min and had to remind first to give then menu and then for the food. Again had to remind for desert. So ended up spending about 1.5+hours of which the actual eating may have been 15-20 min and the rest was waiting hungry. All this when barely 5 tables were occupied during the entire afternoon. Very...
