In picture, the food looks great but how was my experience at govindamretreat? Read the detailed review to know more!
Govindam Retreat is a well-known place for people looking to eat Pure vegetarian Rajasthani food and their location is perfect for travellers visiting Jaipur. I know people say visit Chokhi dhani but for someone who doesn't want to go that far from the tourist places, Govindam Retreat is a good option.
I visited for Sunday lunch and that too around 3:30pm and to my surprise the restaurant was fully packed and hence the delay in service. Their staff was preoccupied and that resulted in nobody attending us for a good 5-8 min until I manually called them.
The staff is very humble and treated us nicely, brownie points for that. Ambiance was superb, totally loved that and the seating was very comfortable. It was relaxing to spend time there.
Talking about the food, we had Rajsthani thali as shown in picture and in starters went with Spring rolls. They suggested me to take Rajwadi handi and instantly placed an order for that. To end it all, we had mango lassi which is again a popular pick in their menu.
Thali was good, I liked everything in it except the Kadhi. Gatta masala is something that I usually don't like but I finished the one they gave in their Thali. Rajwadi Handi was a letdown and I don't recommend you try. The star out of everything that I tried has to be Spring rolls. They were outstanding specially the Chutney that they served. That chutney overpowered everything that we had that day. Mango lassi was fine, nothing extraordinary. I was told that they serve some really good mango Lassi but I couldn't figure out the wow factor.
The menu is on the pricier side, their service, location, and ambiance justify it. You have my recommendation to go visit and try their Rajasthani thali. It's enough...

Read moreWe had gone to jaipur for the holidays, we were looking for an exclusive veg restaurant after looking at different restaurants we can across this restaurant.. While the interior and ambience is good and mesmerizing don't be trapped by it, the staff and service here is pathetic... First they asked us to sit in another location and we insisted on a better table.
They got the order of soup after almost half an hour with the wrong soup they also put in the fried thing in the soup which was poor in taste and felt very old or outdated.
The kitchen was filled with hardly 2-3 people after 4-5 times of follow ups they got the order. We ordered dum aloo and there was only 1 aloo in it, we now didn't have the energy or patience to fight again after the soup fiasco we ate the dum aloo gravy with tandoori roti and dal fry. Meanwhile we saw a gentle man arguing and refusing the soup order. We decided we will not have a full meal and left after eating roti dal and sabji.
For another round of roti they made us wait too much and at each followup they would look at each other without coordination. When we were about to complete there was a fight between the musicians who just arrived and the waiter.
We listened to the musicians till the dinner was over and we left in total disappointment the price was too high, the service was pathetic and the taste was average with poor quantity they were not even listening to us about the issue with order. We left furiously and decided never to return here for food. Only ambience and music made this experience bearable.
I will not recommend this place to all those who are very hungry and want...
