Virat Kohli recently said that consistency is boring and requres a lot of hard work to be put in to maintain the required standards and levels of performance. The quip works out perfectly for the Handi. A place which served good food in a simple and efficient manner seems to have developed complacency or should we say incumbency, a word we are so acquainted with in the Indian context.
Location- Located in a relatively less crowded part of Vaishaii Marg very close to the Vaishali Nagar Gurudwara Sahib. The place is easy to reach.
Parking- Street parking is available and considering the fact that people manly patronise it for dinner, the parking lot alongside the street close to the entrance to the restaurant seems to be adequate.
Ambience- Has both open air and indoor seating with the indoor being air conditioned. However, the indoor seating is a bit cramped up. It seems that the restaurant is being run out of a building which was primarily constructed as a residential property probably explains the constraints of space. There is ample space outside though.
Staff- Warm and hospitable
Food- Handi used to serve very good food, but somehow of late it seems to be missing the 'bang for the buck factor'. When the chef confuses the interpretation of taste with quantum of spices being stirred in, the result does not meet the mark. Portions have also been whittled down over time. Though still a good destination to sample some Punjabi style Non vegetarian food, in case you live in Vaishali Nagar and are looking for a decent option for a North Indian dinner close by.
Cost factor- Good for executive lunches with combo offers. Pricey if you consider the size of the helpings and cost of common items like breads. Dinner for two would be around Rs 1000-1400. depending...

Took my family to Handi Restaurant in Vaishali Nagar the other day, and it was a mostly delightful experience. We started with the Bhuna Gosht, and let me tell you, it was incredible! Absolutely bursting with flavor ā a real showstopper.
For the mains, we shared Laal Maas and Handi Chicken with Rumali Roti. The Handi Chicken was fantastic, just the right amount of spice and everything went together perfectly. The Laal Maas, however, was a bit of a letdown. It was surprisingly sweet, and I suspect they might have added a bit too much tomato sauce or puree to try and enhance the flavor.
Thankfully, the disappointment with the Laal Maas was balanced out by the delicious craft beers they have on offer. The selection added a fun element to the meal, and everyone enjoyed trying something new.
Overall, a great dinner at Handi Restaurant. Just a word of caution if you're ordering the Laal Maas ā it might be a touch sweeter than you expect. But everything else was fantastic, especially the Bhuna Gosht ā definitely don't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is one of the restaurants I often visit whenever I get time and wish to have good food. Food is good, both veg and non veg. We ordered lots of stuff and relished almost all the cuisines. Nicely cooked and that smokey charcoal flavour will make you crave for more. We ordered dal makhani, laal maans, malai chicken tikka, roomali roti, baby corn masala and sweet lime water. That all got to our taste buds. At times services lag but staff is courteous and respectful. One can look for their beverages menu for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Years back I visited MI road one, for which one of my friend suggested. Since then this restaurant is always on the list. It is part of the best eateries in Jaipur. Their laal maas is a bit spicy but it's a try for non-vegetarians. The list of food served will go long, it is suggested that you visit the place and...
