Nestled in the heart of the city, Ahdoos beckons with an ambiance that effortlessly marries sophistication and tranquility. The cafe's interior, a haven of soothing tones and tasteful decor, creates an inviting space that promises an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The attention to detail in the organization of the establishment is evident, setting the stage for what seems to be a meticulously crafted dining experience.
The service at Ahdoos deserves commendation, with waitstaff seamlessly navigating the space, ensuring patrons feel well-attended and valued. Their attentiveness adds an extra layer to the overall atmosphere, elevating the dining experience.
The anticipation builds as the Wazwan Thali, a customizable feast, is presented on the table. The visual appeal is undeniable, each dish carefully arranged to create a picturesque display. However, as the first bite is taken, red flags emerge. The noticeable absence of adequate salt in the dishes creates a dissonance, a stark contrast to the otherwise meticulously curated experience. The promise of customization is fulfilled, yet the oversight in seasoning becomes a noticeable flaw that detracts from the overall enjoyment of the culinary journey.
Despite this hiccup, the evening takes an unexpected turn with the order of Kahwa. This traditional Kashmiri tea, with its aromatic blend of spices, emerges as the evening's saving grace. Sipping on the warm, flavorful beverage provides a soothing and satisfying conclusion to the dining experience, leaving a positive aftertaste that lingers.
In reflection, while Ahdoos impresses with its sophisticated ambiance and attentive service, there lies an opportunity for enhancement in the seasoning of certain dishes. The Wazwan Thali, despite its visual allure and customization options, falls short due to a lack of balance in flavors. Yet, the comforting embrace of the Kahwa manages to salvage the overall experience, leaving patrons with a mixed yet ultimately pleasant memory of their time at Ahdoos. No hard feelings guys, just an honest review. All the very best for...
Read moreHeard so much about Ahdoos, that I thought it was necessary to take my family once on our trip to Kashmir. However, was thoroughly disappointed by the service. To begin with, at the gate downstairs, there was utter mismanagement. I understand that this restaurant gets quite busy on most days and that there are ques that are formed to get a table. However, instead of simply jotting down names at the gate as reservations, they allow forming random double lines. Several people who came after us were allowed to go in because they said that they were getting food packed while we kept standing. Only to go up much later to see that those people who said they had come for takeaway seated on a table comfortably. This is just unfair. After we finally got a table and were seated, the waiter took our order and then seemed to have forgotten about us. Let me mention that we were just three people, and our order was a plate of malai chicken tikka, 1 kashmiri naan, 1 plain naan, and 1 mutton masala tikka. They took our order and literally forgot about us. Tables that were seated much after us, came, ate and left. After 40 minutes of waiting for the food when we got hold of a server, he asked us again for our order, almost like a reminder, and then after another 15 minutes we received our food when we honestly were about to walk out of the restaurant. The food was quite basic, nothing extraordinary, and perhaps it felt this basic because of our already sour experience. Definitely will not come back or recommend this place to...
Read moreWe stay in mumbai, but Kashmir is my hometown. Recently we have been travelling to Kashmir frequently as I still have my uncles and cousins there. This time we travelled to Gurez and on our way back, our guide and friend from Gurez suggested that we have atleast one meal at Ahdoos. We heeded his advice and on the last day we had our dinner here and what a wonderful experience it was. Totally worth it. The service was little slow even when the restaurant had many tables empty (as we were very early for dinner), but I still can’t complain as the food that arrived compensated for the slightly slow service.
We ordered the wazwan which has 3 main dishes and you can select another 3 non-veg and 2 veg dishes from available options. We were 3 of us and was worried if we will be able to finish one wazwan as we don’t have big appetites. Only thing I was not a big fan of was kashmiri haaq, as I have tasted better haaq at my cousins and at other kashmiri restaurants. This one was upto the mark.
The wazwan is per person and cannot be shared. We explained the predicament to the restaurant captain serving us and he gave us a wonderful suggestion to go in for the wazwan and order just one more from trami. We did that, and the 3 of just about managed to finish the scrumptious dinner. Everything was impeccable and tasted so good. They say that their menu hasn’t changed in 100 years. Wow!
If you want to try traditional kashmiri wazan, this is a must...
