A Hidden Gem for South Indian Food Lovers in Ranchi!

I was literally amazed by Shresth Dakshin (श्रेष्ठ दक्षिण) Pure Veg Restaurant. At first glance, when i was seeing the review, the place might look modest, but don’t go by the looks,the real magic is in the food! It’s truly top-notch, and definitely underrated.

The location is very prominent, easy to find, and ideal for anyone looking for authentic pure vegetarian food; which is honestly quite rare in Ranchi. I ordered the Mini South Indian Thali, and to my surprise, the taste was pure South Indian and exactly what I was hoping for. I personally love spicy and sour flavors, and the food completely met my expectations.

A very interesting thing I came to know from the staff working there is that every Sunday, they offer a Special South Indian Thali that is prepared by the owner himself in traditional South Indian style. But you have to place your order on Saturday. I, unfortunately, missed it as I called on Sunday. But judging by the mini thali, I’m sure the special one is even better 🥲definitely not missing it next time!

The restaurant is neat and clean, and the serving staff was very humble. He politely asked if I needed anything else.

What truly surprised me was the reasonable pricing. Great taste, generous quantity, and all at a fair price. And as a sweet gesture, I was given a beautiful keychain after payment.

If you’re a fan of South Indian food or even just curious, I highly recommend giving this place a try. Taste is genuinely very good, and I’m definitely coming back; especially to try that Sunday...

If you are craving for some authentic South Indian food, then this is THE PLACE for it. They serve beyond Dosas and idli-vada. Their Malabar curries and chettinad curries are so good and talk about the Kerala porotta, appam, I felt as if I am eating at somebody's home on Kerala. It's not just the taste that you are gonna experience here, it's how they serve so passionately too. The filter coffee, aah you need to savor it just as wine. Smell it, stir in the traditional saucer and sip it. Honestly, each experience is gonna take you to Kerala. And for the mocktail lovers, you need to try Kerala Sarbat for sure. I can bet you are neither gonna succeed in guessing the flavour nor would you get that amazing taste anywhere else at all. All in all, it is a place not to be...

Taaza Dakshin, or as gang calls it TD, is our morning adda...its our everyday go to place for that fresh aromatic filter coffee after the workout...filter coffee is the perfect kick-start to our days n it is literally addictive...!!! Apart from that the favourite is gun podi idli...with rich taste of ghee, the nutty gritty texture of gun powder masala, it gives idli a next level taste...vada sambhar n crispy dosas are amongst the standard goodies...another favorite is the onion uttapa..generously garnished with caramelised onion it is soft, utterly delicious, n sumptuous ..n lastly during summers do try Kerala Sherbat..very refreshing Overall hugely recommended place for authentic south indian taste n hearty...
