Hotel Janatha Deluxe Pathumudi Soudha — Restaurant in Karnataka

19.09.2025: We have been regulars at the Hotel Janatha Delux over the past few years. We have also ordered from them through Zomato. Today we just dropped in for some quick Mysore Masala Dosas, Set Dosas and some piping hot filter coffee. The waiter was very prompt and courteous, the food was good, the pricing very affordable and we left satisfied.

17.11.2023: We visited the Hotel Janatha Deluxe restaurant on two successive days. Yesterday we sat in the non air-conditioned hall and had Masala dosas and set dosa. The Masala dosa were big and crisp and accompanied with coconut chutney and Sambhar. We also had coffee to finish the meal. Everything was excellent. We also had a small kitten to keep us company. Loved it.

Today we were in the area again and feeling peckish decided to drop into Janatha Deluxe again. This time we sat in the air conditioned section. We ordered a variety of dishes including Mysore Masala Dosas, Masala Dosa, Masala Chat, Pineapple and Watermelon Juice & coffee. The food was again excellent. Service was a bit slow on the juices.

All tables are also served with warm drinking water infused with jeera which is pleasant to drink in between bites.

The prices are also very reasonable. While on the first day we paid about Rs. 208 for a meal for 2 people, on the second day it came upto Rs.570 for 4 people.

There is also enough parking space for 2 and 4 wheelers around...

On a recent trip to Mangalore, I had the pleasure of dining at one of my favorite restaurants from my year-long stay in the city 14 years ago. It was heartening to find that the food, hospitality, and overall charm of the place have remained consistent over the years.

Food: The flavors were just as I remembered—delicious and satisfying. It's impressive that the quality of the food has been maintained so well.

Service and Hospitality: The service is still exceptional, with the staff providing the same warm and respectful hospitality as they did years ago. It was delightful to be recognized by some of the staff, adding a personal touch to my visit.

Ambiance: A new feature since my last visit is the air-conditioned room, which is a much-needed addition given Mangalore's hot and humid climate. This improvement makes dining here even more comfortable.

Parking and Accessibility: The restaurant now has more parking space, which is a significant convenience for visitors. Despite being somewhat of a hidden gem and not widely known among tourists, it remains a cherished spot for those who have discovered it.

Overall Experience: The restaurant continues to uphold the high standards set by its owner, maintaining its reputation as an excellent place to dine. The consistency in taste and hospitality, along with the added comfort of air-conditioning, makes it a standout choice...

I am not a big fan of Veg, but gave company to my mom who is pure veg.

This place is truly a hidden gem. Good food and good staff. Place is clean, eventhough this is crowded.

We tried the mangalore speciality Goli Bajey, Vada Sambhar, Rava Dosa, Masala Dosa, Dahi Vada and Pav bhaji along with Tea and Coffee

Goli Bajey with the perfect combination of awesome chutney was heavely. It was freshly prepared and was hottt.

Masala dosa had a perfect combination of soft and crispiness to the dosa. The masala was also well cooked.

The rava dosa however was a little disappointing for the size they served as it was very small compared to other places. Taste was just OK.

Pav Bhaji was good. Good combination of flavors in the Bhaji. It was prepared Mangalorean style. The Pav served was not fesh at all and broke to crumbs when held. Or else it would have had been perfect

Vada Sambhar again was frshly cooked and served piping hot right out of the frying pan. The dough was well cooked and again we have the combination of the perfect chutney.

Dahi Vada was also good and the dahi prepared in it was perfect in taste. However I feel the Vada should have had been a little more bigger in size.

Tea and Coffee again were pretty simple yet had a good flavor to it. It was well cooked....
