The Ocean Pearl — Hotel in Karnataka

We called the number available through Google search to reserve seats at their veg dining restaurant for a group with toddlers, kids and elders. When we reached well on time, we were informed that no reservation was made in our name and reservations were not taken on weekends. We told them the number we called, only to be informed it was for their other property in Mangalore. We were okay to wait since it was tedious to look for a new restaurant. Even after telling we were okay to be split into groups to be seated, preference was given to locals who were regulars and who we were told had reservations (they actually contradicted their own statement about no reservations on weekends). Finally after 50 mins, we were given combined seating for our group. We thought food order will be quick after this but the crew had other plans. They took over 30 minutes to serve us soups and there was a gap after. When asked about the order, the waiter for our table told us all soup orders delivered and moved away without proper acknowledgement. One supervisor asked whether we had indeed ordered. What a joke! This was after almost 45 mins of being simply waiting. Not wanting to create a scene, we moved to reception asking for the GM. Thankfully he heard us, stood near to our table to ensure orders came through and slipped past thinking all was good. It was not done. When we finished the meal, the starter we ordered came which we declined. By this time, we had lost both our excitement and hunger to dine at this restaurant which was highly recommended by a relative and myself having dined here years ago. One of the most comfortable stay in Mangalore. Location (5 Star): Superb location, main road side. Easily reachable. Airport and railway stations are nearby. Walkable distance to city centre shopping mall. Room(5 Star): Comfortable room. Well maintained neat and clean linens and other accessories. Very good house keeping team. Basic amenities like kettle, refrigerator (Mini bar), tea/coffee kit etc are provided. Bathroom(5Star): Hygienic and well maintained. Toiletries are complimentary (soap, comb, shaving kit, dental kit, shampoo etc). Towels are replaced daily. Food(5Star): Experienced buffet breakfast and dinner. Food was awesome. Enough varieties to satisfy your taste buds. Tide restaurant is recommended for non-veg lovers. There is Sagar Ratna restaurant for pure vegetarians. I have tried both and both are equally superb. Apart from these two, there is one more multi cuisine restaurant here. Service(5Star): Got best service from all departments. Yesterday I visited (along with my family) the Sagar Rathna restaurant located inside the Ocean Pearl hotel Navbharath Circle, Mangaluru for a lunch. I have used vallet parking facility of the hotel before entering restaurant as no parking facility is available in front of the hotel. It was at around 12.15pm so we thought we can our finish lunch in 15-20 minutes and continue our shopping. Alas! it was one of the worst decision I have ever taken to hand over the car for vallet parking as my car received after waiting for almost 45 minutes in front of this hotel like beggars. The vallet parking guy was not bothered even after giving a number of reminders. After waiting for almost a half an hour we approached the person sitting at the reception counter. After his intervention and after about 10 minutes they handed over my car. By that time we lost our precious time of 45 minutes of shopping. Even though I had opportunity to visit many star hotels at different locations in India during my last 35 years of service I never had such bad experience as happened in Ocean Pearl hotel.
