Read morePlease avoid at all costs, we got Food poisoning back in April 2025. We visited Ali Baba and 41 dishes, Munnar on the 4th of April 2025 at around 6pm. Around 6 hours after our meal, my wife, my 2 children and I started vomiting heavily due to food poisoning. We had stayed at Chinnakkanal and had to be taken to Tata Hospital in Munnar at 3 in the morning, because we were very tired and could even walk properly. At the hospital we were told it was food poisoning. From the moment we entered the hotel, we did not feel good about the place. There was a waiter guy who seemed absolutely disinterested in offering any kind of hospitality. Although most of the tables were empty, he didn't even bother coming to us take order or ask about anything. He stood there staring at his phone watching youtube or something. We went to the hotel only because there is a popular restaurant with the same name here in Trivandrum and it is fairly ok. The servers were non-malayalis who did not seem clean at all. Before serving us he wiped the plates with a very filthy cloth like you have in these local tea shops. I remember commenting about this to my wife when I saw the cloth. The waiter didn't even look at our faces during our entire time there at the restaurant. It was today that google asked me to review this place based on my visit history. The food poisoning episode ruined our entire Munnar trip and cost us quite a bit of money. One of my friends who helped me while we were at the hospital, told me that we should file a case against the restaurant, but I sincerely didn't feel like wasting my time going behind all the legal complications. We just wanted to get back to get back to our home...
Read moreMy visit to Alibaba & 41 Dishes in Munnar was far from satisfactory. Despite the restaurant's popularity, the experience was a major letdown in terms of service, food quality, and overall hygiene.
Service (1.5/5) The service was extremely slow and disorganized. We had to wait around 15-20 minutes just to get a table, and once seated, the wait for food was equally frustrating. Even simple requests were either ignored or forgotten, requiring multiple reminders. At one point, I even saw diners fetching their own plates due to the lack of attentive service.
Atmosphere (3/5) The ambience and decor were decent but nothing exceptional. The seating arrangement felt cramped, and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired. Tables were often unclean and there were flies around the dining area, raising serious hygiene concerns.
Food (1/5) The food was a huge disappointment. The Kerala Porotta was among the worst I’ve had, and the Kadai Chicken was poorly prepared. The portion sizes were small for the high price, and the staff failed to mention this despite us asking in advance. The overall taste was below average, with stale ingredients and flavors that lacked depth.
Overall Verdict Pricey, poor service, and subpar food. Given the long wait times, disorganized staff, and questionable hygiene, the dining experience was simply not worth it. Unfortunately, due to the lack of good food options in Munnar, many tourists end up eating here—but if you have a choice, I’d recommend...
