I’ve had a long and evolving experience with Big Mouth, and unfortunately, it hasn’t ended on a high note.

During my first visit, I was genuinely impressed. The food was excellent — especially the vegetarian curry with coconut milk, which was flavourful and comforting. Most restaurants tend to include veg curries just to tick a box, but this one stood out. The beef dish we ordered was also cooked beautifully — soft, tasty, and memorable. The ambience and service added to the overall positive experience.

Encouraged by that first visit, I returned and tried a few different dishes. While the food was decent, it didn’t quite match the bar set earlier. Still, it wasn’t a dealbreaker.

However, my third visit — this time with extended family — was disappointing. Despite an extensive menu, several key items including mutton and prawns were unavailable. It was frustrating to see these options on the menu but not on the table. We ended up walking out, and that was six months ago.

Hoping it was just a phase, I gave Big Mouth one last chance today — this time via Zomato. I ordered the veg curry again (in memory of the first experience) and chicken 555. Sadly, both dishes were far from enjoyable. The curry was bland and lacked the flavour I once loved. The chicken was rubbery, poorly cooked, and tasted off. Considering the premium pricing, the quality was highly disappointing.

It’s unfortunate to see a restaurant that once served such good food decline to this extent. With so many better options available — both in quality and value — I won’t be returning. I truly hope the management takes feedback seriously, because what’s being served now doesn’t reflect the promise the...

I had the pleasure of dining at Big Mouth Restaurant in Kakkanad, and I must say it was a truly satisfying culinary experience! This place is a hidden gem for seafood lovers and those who enjoy bold, authentic flavors with a touch of creativity.

I tried several dishes and was impressed by the consistency and quality across the menu. The Kalanji Pollichath was a standout — perfectly marinated and wrapped in banana leaf, bursting with flavor in every bite. The Neymeen Mappas, rich with coconut milk and traditional spices, offered a nostalgic Kerala taste that was both comforting and refined.

Seafood lovers must not miss the grilled tiger prawns — juicy, smoky, and spiced just right. The dragon prawns starter added a delicious twist with its tangy and spicy sauce, making it a crowd-pleaser at our table.

We also enjoyed fish finger and fried paneer which were crispy outside and tender inside — perfect as starters or sides. The fish fry was fresh and well-cooked with a beautiful blend of coastal spices. To accompany all this, their tandoori rotti was soft with a slight char, a perfect match to the gravies and seafood.

What impressed me most was the consistency — every dish was flavorful and fresh. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, making it perfect for both casual hangouts and family dinners.
