We visited Arya’s Veg Restaurant in Guruvayur for lunch around 2:30 PM, and despite the late hour, the place was still packed with people. It’s a small but popular restaurant that serves authentic Kerala-style meals. We had a delightful spread of 20-25 items, including various curries, vegetables, and rice. The food was bursting with flavor, and the portions were generous, especially considering the very affordable prices. An interesting detail was the water they served, which was infused with local herbs designed to aid digestion—a nice touch that added to the authentic experience. The restaurant’s busy atmosphere also showed how much it is loved by locals and visitors alike.
Later, when we wanted to have dinner elsewhere, we were surprised to find that most restaurants and shops in the area were already closed by 8:30-9:00 PM. It’s not uncommon for smaller towns to have early closures, but it was a bit unexpected. So, we ended up having dinner at Arya’s again. This time, we tried roti, gobi 65, paneer saahi, fried rice, and dal fry. Once again, the food was flavorful and satisfying. Despite the early closures, we were grateful to have a reliable place like Arya’s, which offered excellent food, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere at a very reasonable price. It’s definitely a go-to spot for anyone...
Read moreI visited this restaurant for lunch and tried their banana leaf rice thali. The experience was quite enjoyable overall. The thali came with a generous variety of items, all beautifully served on a fresh banana leaf, which added a nice traditional touch to the meal. Each dish had its own distinct flavor, and the food tasted genuinely delicious — well-seasoned, authentic, and satisfying.
However, while the food impressed me, the service left something to be desired. The staff were polite, but the service was noticeably slow. It took a while for the food to be served and for requests to be attended to. A bit more attentiveness and faster service would have made the dining experience much better.
If you enjoy traditional meals and don’t mind a bit of a wait, it’s definitely worth trying for...
