They have done wonders with the setting and the location. Ordered Beef 🐄 Omelette 🍳 and was kind of expecting something different than what I received - Omelette stuffed with fried and shredded beef, like a Masala Dosa. Don't know much about the other stuff as I went there after reading a couple of nice reviews about it and thought to try out the beef omelette. My friend said that the food was okay for the price compared to other shops. He ordered Masala Dosa, Plantain fritters (pazham puri) and tea. The biggest negative thing that was a dampener to my experience there was mosquitoes. Lots of them. Felt like I was a terrorist hideout being bombarded by the Air Force. 🚀✈🚀🚀 At the end of the day I felt like I lost more energy in the form of blood and in swatting the damned things than I got from eating the omelette. Pros: • Centrally located in Kakkanad, inside the Collectorate premises. • I prefer this place for light refreshments - their vegetable cutlet is one of a kind you could try. • I like the unique coffee they serve that is unlike the coffee you will have from anywhere else.
Cons: • Portion size is less - I have only had ghee roast from here, and you will need at least 2 dosas to feel full. • Service is lackluster - its like you go to a government office for a service. Not a terribly welcoming vibe, but knowing the legacy of ICH, you wont feel offended. One thing I definitely feel offended is when they serve the ghee roast cold, apparently when they try to serve multiple tables with one trip to kitchen. • Hygiene is not top notch. • Some days you will be shocked by the amount of oil you can squeeze out of your snacks - the attached image shows the oil I squeezed from a...

From politics to cricket and social issues to arranged marriage meeting points, bored government employees to erstwhile corporate white collars all would conglomerate at the Indian Coffee House. Those days it was both an icon and a cult following- their cutlets and beetroot coloured masala dosas were the talk of every town. Also, it was a big lesson case study on how co-operative movements can build a business group as well to an extent they had outlets even in Kolkota, Nagpur and Allahabad. The star attraction here used to be the waiters and stewards in their turbaned attires and gree/ red sashes. This outlet is in Kakkanad, stone's throw away from the Collectorate. Poori bhaji(beetroot colour again) and masala dosas still taste good and you cannot say no to their...
