Kismath is a reliable, student-friendly spot right by CUSAT that delivers on taste, quantity, and price. The menu leans toward Kerala and North Indian comfort food—think spicy chicken fry, butter chicken, beef roast, biryani, porotta, and homely veg meals. Portions are generous, gravies are flavorful without being overly oily, and the porotta is usually hot, flaky, and fresh.
Service is quick even during rush hours, and staff are polite and efficient. The space is simple and clean—nothing fancy, but functional and airy enough for groups. It’s a great pick for everyday lunches, late study-night dinners, or a quick bite between classes.
✅ What I liked:
Tasty mains (butter chicken, beef roast, chicken fry)
Pocket-friendly pricing and good portion sizes
Fast service; convenient for students and faculty
Consistent porotta & biryani quality
⚠️ Things to note:
Peak hours can get crowded; expect a short wait for seating
Parking is limited on busy days
Spice levels can run hot—ask to tone it down if needed
Verdict: A value-for-money, flavorful choice near CUSAT. If you’re after hearty Kerala/North Indian dishes without burning a hole in your pocket, Kismath is hard to...

Read moreWent for lunch around 1.30 in the noon, as a couple. They have a parking lot behind, but its accessibility is not good due to how it is being maintained.
It wasn't difficult to find seats, they have outdoor seating as well as indoor. The layout is not restaurant styled as it's essentially a house turned restaurant. We chose indoor, there are options for air conditioning in some rooms, which would be wiser if you're visiting in day time as other rooms will be warmer than normal.
Ordered a Chicken Biriyani and a Vegetable Biriyani. We had to wait for way too long of a time to receive the items than what we expect for similar restaurants.
The food was very tasty, but there was too much oil and gravy in the biriyani, but still, it was very tasty. Don't know how healthy it is from the amount of oil in it, but for occasional Biriyani cravings, this is a nice spot.
The price was nominal, not very expensive.
Would visit again if...
