As the name says Kunjus Jam rolls are well known for their toothsome pineapple and strawberry jam rolls. This place is located at Seaport-Airport road but it is not easily traceable as it is not located on the main road. It is located on of the service roads situated at the top and gives you a calm and quite ambiance for dine in with friends and loved ones. The legacy of Kunjus jam rolls dates back to 1931 and has got more than 85 years of fruitful experience in the bakery field. The main baking unit is headquartered at Kanjirapally and it handles the production section whereas the one at Kakkanad caters to the needs of city's requirements
The place looks clean and well maintained and the walls are of brick tile setup and looks like an old house converted to a bakery unit with seating arrangements placed infront of entrance where you can relax and have your desserts peacefully. While stepping inside you can see a caricature of their founder KK Kunju pasted on one side of their walls.
In addition to jam rolls, the bakery also houses cakes, snacks, biscuits, chips, and pastries. Service was good. Staff was very courteous and attentive.
We came here for the first time despite staying in Kochi for around 5 years I was completely unaware of this place and couldn't make use of it fruitfully during those times. We opted for Pineapple Jam rolls, Strawberry jam rolls, Vanilla paste cake and 3 pieces of Dates flavored pastry. All were scrumptious and we liked the pineapple jam roll much more. I would personally recommend everyone to try their pineapple jam roll as it was very luscious. It is certainly a good spot in Kakkanad area to take your friends / GF/BF for...
Read moreA Memorable Barbecue and the Magic of Artisanal Sourdough Bread from Kunjus Jamrols 💖
Yesterday was an unforgettable experience. My friend hosted a barbecue party, featuring succulent pork ribs and tender beef brisket. I promised to bring along some sourdough bread and garlic bread to complement the feast.
Determined to add a personal touch, I prepared a homemade garlic, chili, and herb spread. To my delight, it was met with great appreciation by everyone at the party. However, finding sourdough bread turned out to be a challenge. Despite searching through various online portals and artisanal bakeries, none had it in stock.
By sheer luck, I stumbled upon the contact details of Jayan, the owner of Kunju’s Jamrolls – a renowned artisanal bakery. When I reached out to him, his response left me both surprised and delighted. As it happened, he had just baked a few loaves of sourdough as part of a trial for his upcoming product launch.
To my astonishment, Jayan refused to accept any payment for the bread. He even covered the porter charges to deliver the loaves to my doorstep. Such generosity and passion are rare in today’s world, and I was truly touched by his gesture.
The sourdough bread was the highlight of the evening – its crisp, golden crust encasing a soft, buttery interior. It paired perfectly with the pork ribs and beef brisket, earning praise from everyone present.
I later learned that Jayan is planning to open a new outlet in Kadavantra. With his dedication and craftsmanship, I have no doubt it will be a hit among food lovers in Kochi.
Wishing Jayan immense success in his new venture. May the coming year bring him happiness...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to try out "Kunju's Jam Rolls" in Thrikakkara, and it turned out to be a mixed experience for me. Let me break it down for you.
When I arrived at the bakery, the first thing that caught my attention was the name itself, "Jam Rolls." Naturally, I was eager to taste their signature offering, the jam roll. The friendly staff offered me some jam samples to try before I made my decision. However, I must admit that the jam roll didn't quite meet my expectations. It was not to my liking as the sweetness of the jam overpowered the taste of the bread, and I prefer a more balanced flavor profile in my pastries.
However, the disappointment with the jam roll was quickly forgotten when I decided to explore their other offerings. I decided to give their "Bolo de Coco" and "Lemon paste Cakes" a try, and I was pleasantly surprised. The "Bolo de Coco," a coconut cake, had a delightful texture and was bursting with coconut flavor and cream. Even though I'm not a fan of coconut, I found myself enjoying every bite of this cake. It was moist, not overly sweet, and had just the right amount of coconut essence to make it appealing even to someone who doesn't usually like coconut. Similarly, the "Lemon Cake" was a refreshing treat.
One thing that stood out during my visit was the bakery's warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was courteous and accommodating, providing excellent...
