Hotel Modern, contrary to its name, has been serving customers ever since 1926 and is famous for its afternoon meals. It is located at M.G.Road, Thalassery opposite B.E.M.P. High School. The working hours of this restaurant are from 12-4.30 in the afternoon and 7:30-10 in the night throughout the week. But lunch would be the perfect time to come here. And don’t forget to order for Meals and Mutton Chaps- the two dishes you must try from this hotel.

Car Parking is not available. Customers have to park their vehicles road side.

Home Delivery is not available and no online orderings

Headed to this place on a hot Sunday afternoon.

Food: They have fish curry meals(white rice + mathi curry + veg curry + rasam/buttermilk and a glass of warm water). Add-ons are boiled egg, mutton chaps, different types of fish fry and pappadam. So, basically they have a very simple menu yet the place is pretty popular because the food is good(homely). You won't get a bad tummy and more importantly they don't mix soda powder with rice(a trick used by many lunch houses), so you won't feel bloated as well.

Ambience: Expect to share tables with the locals and students. Infact the tables are arranged in a linear fashion (would find this kind of an arrangement in marriages). Would not suggest to go with family.

Worst experience in case of service, especially from the side of counter, the young guy in the counter.., i think he seems that some thing they offering as free, be understand that you are running based on some past legacy not more good in food and services, food is lower than basic..Service is worst..the available restaurants in Thalassery all provided same and more than tasteful from there.. I come to there after a 12 years to this restaurant but identified that the service and food experienced before 12 years is different.. Mutton chaps is iconic they tell, but you carry a knife or some thing like that to cut it,mutton is very hard too. Billing is with out GST, paper bill..Only positive thing is Hotel situated...
