Read moreThe Pepper Palace is a popular restaurant in Thallasseri in Kannur district. The place located on Gundert Road and is 1 km from the bus stand.and about 3-4 kms from the railway station. The location of this place is excellent.
The decor is above average and the size of the restaurant is not big but it is also not small. It can seat about 50 people or more. The ambience is not bad and te lighting is comfortable. The parking would be an issue as I could not spot a parking in front of the restaurant. May be they have a place nearby. I am not sure.
I could not savour the meals as I entered the place nearing 3 pm. Most of the popular dishes like Biriyani, Kerala meals and Chatti Choru was not available. I was offered Nool porotta and an in house special called Pepper Chicken curry as an accompaniment for the porotta. Both the dishes were excellent. I truly enjoyed the dishes. The pricing was very reasonable.
I was disappointed not getting either the Biriyani or the Kerala meals which will give a clear idea on the food in this place. Anyway the popularity of the place can give an idea of how popular the place is among the locals. I am sure I will try their main dishes the next time. I felt it was a missed opportunity in the centre of spice town.
The service were all friendly and smiled but their service is very very slow. It is very difficult to gat their attention even though less than half of the tables were full. I had to take a lot of effort to get their attention. They think once the food is put on the table their duty is over. I would not blame the service people . I would squarely put the blame on the management. It is their duty to perfect the service.
Overall a decent experience and the food was good. I would advice the readers not go...
Read moreVisited this restaurant on 22 Apr 2025, along with my family. The Alfam served was using the stale chicken meat. When we started eating the dish, a very bad and intense rotten smell started coimg out of the food. We stopped eating all the food that was on the table. Checked with restaurant manager, and he denied the stale meat being served, but accepted that the food is smelling very badly. In the next 15 minutes, another table also detected the same kind of smell from another chicken based dish. I have informed the restaurant manager on the quality of the food. There are several other tables occupied, but no one cares to check. The manager involved his chef to check the quality. They suspect stale meat supplied by the regular vendor. When i came out in the lobby for billing, the chef and other friends were smiling and enjoying the time. Clearly, it indicates that this is a regular affair, and they just got caught and may not be the first time. I would recommend people to check the food before you eat, or bring your "own chicken" as the restaurant is not showing any accoutability of their wrongdoing. 'People' be safe than sorry. A restaurant is responsible for serving good food to customers, and their shortcoming is not...
