SteamPot Restaurant: Where Quality Meets Flavor
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, SteamPot Restaurant delivers a dining experience that manages to balance traditional Kerala flavors with contemporary presentation. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed with both their classic and fusion offerings.
The appam and chicken stew combination here is nothing short of exceptional. The appams strike that perfect balance - lacy edges with a soft, pillowy center that serves as the ideal canvas for the accompanying stew. What truly distinguishes their chicken stew is the pronounced cashew flavor that permeates the gravy. Unlike many restaurants where cashews are merely mentioned on the menu but barely detectable in the dish, SteamPot's version allows this premium ingredient to shine through, creating a rich, velvety texture and nutty depth that elevates the entire dish.
Another standout is their ghee rice and alfaham combo. The ghee rice was aromatic without being overwhelming, each grain distinct and infused with flavor. The alfaham chicken deserves special mention - the meat was remarkably tender and well-cooked, with a perfect char on the outside while remaining juicy within. The marinade had penetrated deep into the meat, ensuring flavor in every bite rather than just on the surface.
While the prices at SteamPot are admittedly on the higher side, the quality of ingredients and attention to detail justify the premium. The portion sizes are generous, providing good value despite the higher price point. What particularly impressed me was their packaging - sturdy containers that maintained the temperature and integrity of the food, speaking to their commitment to quality at every touchpoint of the dining experience.
For those willing to invest a little more for a meal that delivers on both quality and quantity, SteamPot Restaurant proves to be a worthwhile destination. Their careful approach to traditional dishes, evident in everything from their ingredient selection to their cooking techniques, results in food that satisfies not just hunger but a craving for authentic flavors executed...
Read moreOrdered non-veg pothichoru & chicken fried rice from here ! For me, pothichoru stands as the most relishing way to eat a meal.So ordered non vegetarian pothichoru, in this parcel ,the rice was packed in a vatiya ella (but it was not in a smoked banana leaf, which was a little disappointing ).In this pothichoru ,along with rice,it had side dishes like cabbage thoran, kadala erisseri, kappa & had separately packed in containers sambar ,parippu , moru curry, fish curry, rasam & pappadam.Dessert it had payasam. Taste wise curries it was just ok, I feel ,it could be much more better. Its not worth the price ,it's expensive..... Chicken fried rice was good !!! Both the items ordered was packed well.!!!
Latest review : Tried their hot kanji specials, and it was truly unique! Served in a 750ml container, the kanji came with delicious side dishes that complemented it perfectly—kaapa, veg puli curry, idi chamanthi, inji curry, and chena veruval. The kanji was fresh, and the whole experience was delightful. A must-try! Very well packed.
New review: Recently tried their chicken alfaham with khuboos and the full mandi with barbeque chicken alfaham combo. Everything was tasty and flavorful! However, the full mandi with alfaham felt a bit on the pricier side. That said, the food was well-packed and...
Read moreThis was a nice restaurant , recently the visits to the restaurants left a bad taste in our mouth.
The Bad The whole place was having a bad stench of soaked cloth used for cleaning tables. They should have opened the restaurant door during such a case and allow some fresh air inside. When people are having food , the wastes from the kitchen was carried across right through the tables and exposed as well ? They have reduced the number of tables recently. The wash area is a squeeze and the toilet next to it stinks and its kept open. ( the smell from the toilet and the cleaning cloth , makes the whole place a nauseating experience ) It was rainy season and the floor was all muddy and dirty and this was not cleaned. the restaurant seems to only bothered about online food orders ( which they have tons of such orders ) and they have least botheration about the walk-in customers.
On the whole , this place is a no-no for walk in restaurant experience. Please note , this experience is not based one visit to this place , but multiple visits over the period of 6-8 months.
Good we had vegetarian and it was tasting ok and nothing to...
