Myself along with my family visited the vastly celebrated sea food restaurant of Kochi namely Machli Restaurant on 22nd February, 2025 around 12.30. In this connection I want to share the 'wonderful' experience of the rare and scarce seafood ordered and served to us At the entry point, pungent smell of frying fish welcomes us.Since it is very difficult to sit at the main floor, we shifted to upstairs, where the atmosphere is slightly better.
Coming to the point of food, the supplier took orders for crab and Clam roast(kakka irachi), 30 minutes later he informed us, no stock, finished. We ordered Kalanchi tava Fry and Machli Special Poomeen Fry. Sad to say both of them are substandard, just like half boiled, no salt no chilly. Sometimes, because of my inability to understand the quality and assess the taste of half boiled fish under the pretext of tava Fry Again we ordered beef roast and chicken65. Chicken 65 OK, but the beef roast is old stock and very poor quality and taste, not able to eat. We ordered Tala Curry, meen mutta and prawns, which were not bad, but not upto the marks It is to be mentioned that the Rice,Rasam, pulisserry and pappadam, very good. Kudos for a specialised seafood restaurant. It is because of the video posted by Food and Travel vlogger, Ebin Jose, who had given very good rating for this Restaurant, we decided to visit this Restaurant, resulted in such a tragedy. His motive is free food and money, no ethics in cheating commoners Kudos to Ebin Jose. Sometimes, nice food is served to the vlogger.
Last week, we were there to Kozhikode for a few days, visited so many restaurants of Kozhikode, both old and new, quality of food served in almost all the Restaurants are moderately high, in comparatively lower prices. But the condition of Kochi is superb, poor quality at high prices. Machi Restaurant is a typical example for that
So many are cheated like this, but not saying openly. VERY...
Read moreI tried their meals and 'Machli special fry'. For the INR 160 for this so called 'SPECIAL' fry, I didn't feel anything extra ordinary. A normal fish fry and and OK-OK meal. One of their staff claimed the Machli special fry is red snapper and I ordered it. In about next 5 minutes, another customer near me enquired about this special fry and another staff was claiming it as Black king fish(Motha). Not sure if both were available. Nevertheless, Its just a normal fish fry and nothing special about it. Coming to the meals, It was served with Avial, Thoran, Achar, chammandi, Pappadam and Podi meen fry with 4 types of 'Ozhich curries' and 'Pacha moru'. They are charging INR 100 for this. Some mixed veg salad is available on the table as well. Apart from the fish dishes, Beef coconut fry is also available. There is no dedicated car parking space available. The place is too crowded and ambience is really poor especially due to the rush and noise. The place is really hyped and people are rushing like anything to have lunch from here. Service is below average, they take the order and often forgets it. If we ask for the sides they will make us ask atleast 3 times. The specials are too expensive, Tiger prawns fry would cost you INR 350/- and the fish fry's starts from INR 140/-, Maybe its a seasonal price. They do not accept cards and I didn't receive any printed bill. Payments can be done using UPI or Cash. I will not recommend this place and If you really look forward for a meal with fish variety which is more cost-effective, I would rather suggest you Shapp Curry, aalinchuvad or Vella Kandari aside Terminal road. Both destinations are far better than this over hyped place in terms of...
Read moreI had a great time at Machli Restaurant, a non-food place that serves amazing fish dishes. My colleagues recommended it to me and I'm so glad they did. The restaurant is on the first floor and it has a cozy atmosphere. It was very busy when we arrived, but we managed to get a table after a short wait. We ordered meals with Machli special fish fry(chemballi fry), chala fry beef with koorkka and chemballi curry. Everything was delicious and satisfying. The meals came with rice and some fish curry gravy that was out of this world. I couldn't get enough of it. The side dishes were also tasty and complemented the main course well. The only thing I didn't like much was the chala (sardine) fry, which was a bit dry and bland. But the beef with koorkka was a perfect combination of meat and vegetables, and the Machli special fish fry was crispy and juicy. To finish off, we got some pineapple pieces with sugar on top, which the restaurant manager said was good for digestion. I thought that was a nice touch. We also had a sarbath drink, which was refreshing and sweet. It was a wonderful dining experience overall. The price range is very reasonable. The restaurant is open from 12pm to 4pm. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they gave us some tips on what to order. I highly recommend this place to all the non-veg lovers who want to try authentic...
