Everytime I visit Aminia I face some issues. Last time at Nagerbazar branch faced poor service and billing issue. Never had good food experience at New Market Branch. Then why the hell I'm visiting Shyam Bazar branch this time?
Well! because it's Ramzan month and they're one of the very few restaurant in Kolkata serves Mutton Haleem at this time. Once again I faced issue here getting a table.
I made reservation though Dineout and they said my reservation wasn't confirmed, where I could clearly see the restaurant was more than empty at that time. Finally got a table after 20 - 25 minutes of hassle.
I asked for Mutton Haleem and they said its not available. I asked for Aminia Special Mutton Curry and Rumali Roti, they again said both of the items aren't available. At this point of time, I was temped so high due to the hunger at 3'o clock I said bring whatever you have.
Tandoori Roti @ Rs.23 (3/5) & Mutton Tawa Masala @ Rs.210 (4/5) : And so they bought this shredded mutton dish and it was wonderful to taste. It almost made me forgot all the hassle I faced here.
Mutton was so soft that it was just melting in the mouth, so the gravy tasted absolutely brilliant with Tandoori Roti. Half of boiled egg was given on top. The dish was little too oily, but if you don't count on fat that much, this is a must try for you.
Mutton Special Biryani @ Rs.355 (4/5) : Aminia is known for their Biryani and there's nothing left to talk about their Special Biryani. It comes with two succulent pieces if mutton and undoubtedly it's one of the best in class cooked mutton, one fried boiled egg and a soft cooked potato.
If you are Biryani lover then I'll always recommend you to have their Special Biryani as in normal the quantity they serve is pretty low. For Rs.100 more you get one more meat and more rice. Their Biryani rice tastes just superb and not very spicy or oily.
Basically Aminia is one of the very few well known brand, still trying to hold their quality where other similar brands has already increased their prices by 3 times and decreased quality and quantity by...

✅ Pros:
✔️ Food Quality: Excellent — rich, flavorful, and portion sizes are decent. ✔️ Menu Variety: Great selection of Mughlai and North Indian classics.
❌ Cons:
⚠️ Ambience: Just okay — nothing special, a bit cramped during peak hours. ⚠️ Service: Very slow. Food took a long time to arrive, and follow-ups were needed multiple times. Definitely not for those in a hurry.
🧾 Final Verdict:
If you're here for the food, Aminia won't disappoint. From biryani to tikkas, every item has depth and flavour. But if you're expecting great ambience or fast service, temper your expectations. Visit for the flavours, not the experience.
